I can manage without one, but the death mages of my upcoming Master of Myrror (MoM) mod would be most pleased if they got themselves a ship of their own.

Civ3 doesn't handle transparencies very well, so I believe the best approach would be the "grim looking ship with torn sails". If you've seen the last summer blockbuster, Pirates of Caribbean, you probably know what I'm talking about. The ghost ship of that movie, Black Pearl is a good representation of this type of ghost ship. It naturally doesn't have to be a Galleon (is Pearl a galleon? I'm at lost with ships), any type of larger sailing ship with this look will do just fine, whatever feels the best. However, I'd prefer if it wasn't a very late design as the mod is about fantasy.

So, any takers? :) Here's a couple of ghost ships to set the mood:

The mist Pearl seems to leave behind might be a nice touch for the unit if it's not too difficult to do.

Please, don't dig up that transparent ship from the past. I forgot to mention that it isn't what I'm looking for and quite honestly, isn't up to my quality expectations. ;)

Edit: I'm talking about this:

A simple palette edit I can do myself. I'm looking something more fancy. :)

I feel offended  No, honestly, there's are a reason I don't have it in my sig ;)
If it is made, I will also use it; would be a perfect ship for my fellow sylvanians.

Sorry. :) I had completely forgotten it was made by you. I think the main reason I don't want to use it is that transparent units don't have civ colors. I already have way too many units without civ colors (each of them used by 3 civs if all civs are in play)

Edit: and it looks a lot better than I remembered. Must've confused it for some other transparent unit.

No takers? Come on! Ghost ships are fun and exciting! Don't tell me I'm forced to use this palette-edited frigate. :(

That looks good for a palette-edited frigate ;)

Would be a nice addition to any fantasy scenario. :)

OMG! Aaglo, please make that! That looks SO cool!:goodjob:

Then agaoin,l I think Drift looks for something a little more...European?:undecide: et's see what he says...

Edit2: Heeeyyyyyy...That's just an edit of your Corsair ships!:p

:worship:

Aaglo, that looks simply fantastic. The ripped sails effect is just what I was looking for and the latin caravel is a very good base for this. Please finish it. :)

aaglo, I want that too!
Perfect Death Hulk. :D (Now I just have to implement it in the mod. Oh well, adding a unit is a good reason to change a mod. ;) )

Maybe it could be a touch larger than the corsair ships? More intimidating and more apart from them. :)

Here's what I've thought this unit could be like:
- Three masts
- the smallest one close to the stern, over the rear castle (mizzane mast?) should have a small lateen sail
- two bigger masts (where they are in that corsair) would have square sails on both masts
- no 'blind sail', or whachamacallit (small sail below the prow beam)
- very very very dark hull
- all of the sails would be torn (of course)
- fancy death: the hull sinks, but the remains of the sails just fades to nothingness :D

[edit]: Drift, I think highly of your avatar

Sounds excellent! I can't wait to see the previews. :D

And thanks about the avatar. I remember choosing always Rjak when I played Master of Magic and now that I'm making a mod based on it, he felt like a natural choice.

I don't know if this is at all possible, Aaglo, but a sort of greyish mist surrounding the ship would be cool, if it could be made, so that the general shape of the ship would still be visible. Just throwing out an idea here. The edited corsair ship looks scary (and well-made) as it is. :)
