Unit requests thread

G'day Folks,
been making my first foray into civ modding over the last week or so. Just building some Australian UU's for personal use with the Road to War mod. I think I've got the hang of the XML side of things so now I'd like to include some graphics. I spent last night going thorugh this thread and found a couple useful items including Snafu's M3 Stuart (cheers). Anyway as suggested a few times I'm game to have a go learning how to produce the graphics for myself but its going to take some time for me to develop the skills as well as having to wait for my notebook to return from its all expenses paid trip to the OEM for an overhaul :) If in the meantime anyone is able to help out with any of the following it would be greatly appreciated.

Matilda (II)

The Matilda was the best British tank of the early war years but 1942 it had been consigned to service in the Far East. Australia employed the Matilda successfully against the Japanese, even developing a flamethrowing variant.

M3 Grant/Lee

Another very important tank of the earlier war years that again ended the war fighting in the Far East. Again employed by Australian armoured units against the Japanese although not as popular as the Matilda.

Sentinel AC1 Tank

The Sentinel Australian Cruiser tank was conceived at a time when it was envisaged that Australia might be facing a war cut off from British industry which hitherto had supplied Australia's military equipment. The original AC1 was armed only with a 2pdr (40mm) gun but the final AC4 variant had been fitted with the powerful 17pdr gun.

CAC CA-1 Wirraway

Originally developed as an adavanced trainer the Wirraway was pressed into service as a front line fighter after Japan attacked in Dec 1941.

CAC CA-21 Boomerang

A follow-on aircraft to the Wirraway developed by CAC the Twin Wasp engine did not develope sufficient power to produce a frontline aircraft as per the state-of -the art in 1942. The Boomerang however did prove to be a capable close air support platform.

sorry about the length of the post. Expect to hear more from me in the main C&C forum ;)

The Mig-21 makes an excellent model to pawn-off on 3rd world nations in the Soviet Block. I did much the same in my Wolfshanze Mod... giving the Mig-21 to many African and Asian nations, while the Soviets themselves flew the Mig-25... of course I only have ONE Jet fighter in my mod. Similarily, I have F-4s, F-5s and F-16s to Western Block nations as their jets, while the Americans fly the F-15.
The Mig-25 was very few in service but the mig-23 was one of the most common one.
And the Mig-21 was introduced in 1959 and flys still do day

I familiar with military history... the Mig-25 is clearly a better aircraft then the Mig-21... just because there are fewer of a model doesn't mean it's not the better aircraft (you wouldn't say the B-52 is better then the B-2 based on service length and number built?).

I did not see a Flame Thrower unit in the downloads section. How about a flame thrower that reduces defenses or causes collateral damage. Seems like such a unit might make for a cool graphic- ie flame shoot'n out. :borg:

Yeah!, and lets remember that the MiG-25 (and the later 31) are supersonic interceptors designed to stop the US bombers (anyone remember the XB-70)
before they could drop their nukes, and not dogfighting jets.

And BTW... A model of the XB-70 Valkyrie

I have asked for this before and I second the request again now. :D

how about the early Ironclad Manassas or the early Submarine the Hunley.
The Hunley would be cool... it would have the special ability to sink without any enemy ships anywhere around it and kill it's own crew... multiple times!

Ok, I now am intrigued about the multiple times thing ;)
On August 29, 1863, Hunley's new crew was preparing to make a test dive to learn the operation of the submarine when Lieutenant Payne accidentally stepped on the lever controlling the sub's diving planes while the crew were rowing and the boat was running. This caused Hunley to dive with hatches still open, flooding her. Payne and two other men escaped; the remaining five crewmen drowned.

On October 15, 1863 Hunley failed to surface during a mock attack, killing its inventor and seven other crewmen. In both cases, the Confederate Navy salvaged the vessel and returned her to service.

By this time, the Hunley had sunk-twice, killed-off 13 of her own crewmen in two differant occurances, and hadn't yet even engaged the enemy. I'm not even counting the third time the Hunley sunk and took her crew with her.

Ok then the Manassas -a daring Confederate Ironclad
and a Kamakazi Hunley- 2 movement/coastal only/invisible to most units and attacks like a Cruise Missle.

You've got to give the Hunley at least a 75% chance of killing herself every time it moves one square... 50% chance if it just stays in a friendly port without moving.

I'd also change that wording "attacks like a Cruise Missile" to something more like "attacks like a guy strapped to a chair attached to cement bricks and thrown off a bridge".

Ok then, The Manassas

Aircraft
F2Y Sea Dart (Navy jet seaplane) or even the X-85 Goblin
P-61 Black Widow

I made a similar request a while ago. I hope this time someone react to it.
I request a arab cavalry (on horse) and an Infantry unit

Cavalry-Arab1946.jpg

These pictures actually show the jordanian arab legion in the 1940s. They comprised of camel and horse mounted units as well as infantry but i couldn´t find a good picture of arab legion infantry

There's already half a zillion arab cavalry on horse... already got them in my mod... you just need to look around.

If there are so many arab cavalry tell me where they are! The best one I found was a Immortal equipped with a rifle. I think one of the great unitmakers could do better than that

I have asked for this before and I second the request again now. :D

i third the flamethrower.
+75% against all units (excludes armored units or aircraft or ships)

it would have to be several units stacked together... and that could only work on railways.
it would be cool, but impractical.
however...if someone can find a way to make it work then i can second this.

Who can deny so many requests?
