If Franklin D. Roosevelt were alive by the time the United States declared the victory of World War II, he might have taken the similar action as former President William McKinley.

Franklin D. Roosevelt was the only American President who has ever sought the 3rd and the 4th terms in the Oval Office.

Wouldn't have happened. No one would have gone for that, or even proposed it.

truman was not exactly taken as a brilliant strategist and he inherited Roosevelt's stuff . Truman didn't means Roosevelt wouldn't .

Way too angry and racist in 1945. States get representatives and senators. No way.

this makes him automatically at least twice as good as any other american president

Not a chance. One of FDR's big foreign policy goals was to try and break up European empires - due both to anti-colonial sympathies and also because the European colonial empires posed a challenge to American dominance. There is no way FDR would have tried to formally annex Japan.

Better chance from the 80s onwards. That's about when Americans started falling in love with many things Japanese, pretty sure?

Give it 4 years, there'll be another....

Wilson tried for a 3rd term.
I don't think it's a good rule for the U.S. President to serve 3 consecutive terms during the current century which means Barack Obama shouldn't run in 2016. Since there has been a party-switch during the meantime, it's not a bad idea for Barack Obama to run as a challenger in 2020 since he's a better choice than Joe Biden considering their ages.

Obama is precluded by law from running for president ever again. He is eligible for the vice presidency. If only he would tell us his pronouns.

And if Obama would become VP...

What happens if Biden resigns or passes away ?

Obama isn't eligible for the vice presidency. As per the 12th amendment, "no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States". Since Obama has already had two terms as president, he is ineligible to hold office as president again, and thus is ineligible to be a candidate for the vice presidency.

There are some "loopholes" which technically could be interpreted in such a way that a person could find himself come into office again, but those intrepretations are very outlandish and would never hold up in court anyway.
