Units and Animations

I'm anticipating getting some units (models) to implement in my Star Trek mod soon, but I have a very important question: How do I get them animated?

I'm thinking of just using the Final Frontier animations for it, but I'm not sure if that will work. Could I just reference a FF animation in the units art def file or is there more to it?

For future reference... I don't have 3d studio max. I have gmax with a nif plugin.
 
I would try the default FF animations first and see what happens. Making new ones in max is the next step.
 
The easiest way would be to merge your models into the nif files from FF. Any nif viewer tutorial should be able to show you. It's not hard once you get the hang of it, and the FF ships are laid out in an easy to understand way - I modified some a while back and it was no problem. Once you merge your model into the nif from FF, it's just a matter of using the animations for the original unit on your new nif.
