Hello everyone, and welcome to the fitfth part of this poll, this time focused on Eastern Asia, with South-east Asia included. As expected, the participation on the last poll was quite low, due probably for the lack knowledge/interest of the former region (and maybe also lassitude from the polls). But I feel this one will get the attention of far more people, especially due to the lack of love from Firaxis to South-east Asia, many times summirized in two civs. So, from the nomadic Manchus, to islanders from malay, or the Conquerors from Burma, pick your choice and have fun.
I hope everyone will take pleasure, and don't forget to justify your choices !

Cheers everyone !

Edit : ATTENTION three new choices were added into the poll. The Ainu, people from the Hokkaido and its northern islands, from popular demand. The two other are the siberian people Koryak and Chukchi, who were among the only native people to successfully and permanently drive away an industrial powerhouse (in this case, the Russian Empire).

YOU accidentally added Manchuria twice

Let’s just imagine if both Manchurias have a vote they will be added up together

Is Pagan considered SE Asia or Central? If SEA, then it gets a vote from me in the Other category.

Burma (or Taungoo) - Its about time this powerful nation made it into a Civ game and Bayinnaung would be such a cool leader to see.
Vietnam - Another nation that deserves some love. They have several leader choices that could represent its rebellious spirit.
Philippines - It would be another fun option with lots of possibilities for play-style, leaders, etc.

I gotta give a shout-out to the Yakuts who I would've voted for under 'Other'. It would be nice to see a Siberian group make it in if possible and Tygyn Darkhan sounds like a worthy leader for them.

My choices have a definite Southeastern focus, mostly because I think East Asia proper is represented pretty well by the Mongol, Chinese, Korean and Japanese civs we already have. I don’t really know enough about the Manchu to see what they would bring to the table. Horse-riding nomads are already pretty well covered (especially if the Central Asian poll is factored in :p). Perhaps a Qing dynasty alternate leader for China would be better than a separate civ?

So my number one choice would be Vietnam , with a unique culture and a sino-centric influence than the more indo-centric civs in Indochina. (One of) The Trưng sisters would be a great choice of leader.

My second choice is kind of torn between Thailand and Burma, with my vote going to Pagan as the newcomer.

Then I think the Philippines could be an interesting postcolonial Civ for the region - the Colonial Legacies mod for Civ V had a good rendition. Take that, Teddy, and your “keeping the peace”!

Vietnam, Siam and the Phillipines are the only ones that stand out to me in that order.

I voted for Burma (once had a large empire, history goes back to the Pyu city-states), the Philippines (Pre-Spanish history interests me the most), and Vietnam (a lot of potential leaders, post-Chinese rule/Pre-Colonial is the period I'm interested in). Hooray for more Southeast Asia! :D

Runner Ups: Ainu, Siam, Taiwanese Aboriginals, Malays, Manchu, Bhutan, Laos

Honestly, East Asia's getting a little full after R&F, so I voted for Burma, Vietnam, and Siam, but I really mean pick one of the three. :p I'd actually kind of like to see Manchuria, but I have a hard time imagining a non-Qing/Ming leader for them.

You mean that ex-prime minister of Thailand? Please no, there are a lot better leader choices than the prime minister that full of controversy.
I’m talking about Taksin the Great the king of Thonburi

Burma and Vietnam. Honorable mention to Brunei for being an interesting novelty. I‘m not very interested in the rest.

Why not add all three? :p Southeast Asia deserves more love!

I don't really feel strongly enough about any of the options to place a vote right now, but I probably will end up voting by the end of the week.
I'd like to see either Vietnam or Burma and either Chukchi or Koryak, though.

Because every Southeast Asian civ added is taking the place of a Middle Eastern or Native American civ that could have been added. :p
