Hey all!

We know you've been waiting on news for the next Civ VII update, so we thought it was a high time for a check-in. We’re sharing some new details on what’s coming in 1.3.0 - and even more in motion beyond that.

Link to the article here!

The TL;DR highlights:
  • Update 1.3.0 is coming early November - and it's full of naval-themed goodness! Details here.
  • Our latest content collection, Tides of Power, will be free to claim for all Civ VII players until January 5, as a thank you to the community! (Seriously - thank you).
  • We're shifting into a slightly new update rhythm as we test and refine some big system changes to Civ VII, and we're opening up a new way for players to get hands-on with features and provide feedback directly to the devs. We are really excited for this one and hope everyone interested will apply to be a part of this - we’ll share more details on how soon!
We made some solid strides based on your feedback with 1.2.5, we hope to continue that trend with 1.3.0, and we're really excited dev-side with everything we have planned over the next few months, and into 2026.

As a quick note, you may notice a few of the features we’ve teased before aren’t mentioned in this check-in. As you know, these things take time - and we want to make sure they’re in a strong place before sharing more. We really appreciate you sticking with us while we get them right.

We’re grateful for everyone who’s stayed curious, vocal, and excited about what’s next for Civ VII. More on 1.3.0 soon!

HATE the pirates, but LOVE that it's free starting next week lol. I suppose the moral flexibility combined with greed makes me kind of like a pirate lmao!

Sayyida al-Hurra has been on my wishlist since about 2017 so I'm VERY pleased with this inclusion.

Also what datamined content hasn't made it in yet. Whinna Cooper and Moari, right?

To address a couple of well-known elephants, here is a quote from the main blog post:

First, we're testing some dramatic changes to the Legacy Paths and Victories in Civ VII. We want to open up the game and provide many new paths your empire can follow while achieving greatness and competing for victory.

Second - and this one’s been one of the most requested features from players - we're internally playtesting ways to play as one civ continuously through the ages, allowing you to choose a civilization from any Age and guide them throughout your journey through history.

I’m personally excited for the pirates.
But also please add Taino and Haiti and maybe also Cuba, thank you

Ah, the "Sorry!" bundle, noted and appreciated :)

Naval combat improvements sound good, will the AI be able to be more menacing on the high seas and coastal waters?
Let those republican pirates come, I don't mind, we'll teach them some manners to civilize them.

And... Iceland? A bit of a shocker, but a pleasant one

Looks like I'm in the minority but I'm excited about pirates. Sure, they weren't a historical civilsation in the way Ancient Egypt or the Ottomans or whoever were, but Ancient Egypt or the Ottomans never went to war with Benjamin Franklin. Conceptually, pirates feel like they have potential for a super fun and unique kit, so I'm excited to see how they end up playing in-game.

I mean I’ve seen people try to give them a cool kit
Hope some inspiration was taken
