Hi guys,
I’m a long time Civ 6 player, who has recently decided to try out some mods (after almost 6 years of playing). I’ve, however found out that most of them aren’t compatible with my game. One of the possible reasons as found on the internet is having an outdated game version. That is very possible, since I still play on 1.0.0.260. As easy as updating a game might sound I haven’t been able to update mine.
The problem lies in my civ 6 version. Although I don’t remember 100 percent where I get it from, I am pretty sure I got it directly from the developer site and surely remember paying for it. It is most likely not a pirated version. I haven’t been able to find anyone with a similar problem, which prompted me to contact game support. Their response was that my version just cannot receive updates.
Is that really the case? Will I just not be able to mod my game?
For clarification, I am launching my game straight from the associated .exe file. I thought launching from the now unsupported launcher might trigger updates. It did not.

TLDR; I wanna update civ 6 from 1.0.0.260 to be able to mod. I got my game straight from the developer (I think, not entirely sure) and not from steam. Civ support didn’t help.

If that doesn't help, I found place you can buy a key for the game and all DLC for $15USD. You can activate it on Steam.

Wingamestore - I do not vouch for this site, I've never used it

Edit - I did a short bit of research and it looks like that site is legit.

Thanks for the reply.
I’ve added the game to Steam already but it just runs the exe file the same way I do - no added usability.
I know I could buy a Steam version of the game again, but honestly I’m pretty sure that I’ll log another maybe 30 hours and then let civ be for another few years. I’m more interested in solving the problem than having the actual updates and mods.
Furthermore, it intrigues me greatly that Fraxis wouldn’t offer updates when getting their game directly from them. If so, there must be hundreds of people with the same issue as me

Edit: I’ve checked the attached site and their record of unsupported countries is impressive. Pretty sure the only supported country are the United States. I’m not based in the US so this would be an issue.
