I want to upgrade my ram but I'm not shure by how much. I already have 256Mb and I can either get an other 256 or 512.

But for 200CND (~140USD) is it worth it to get the 512 dimm?

The two more memory intensive things I do are playing games and Java programing.

I forgot to mention that it's a notebook. My bad.:crazyeye:

I would say just go ahead and buy the 512. The more RAM the better. Plus its very cheap nowadays. A good stick of 512 MB RAM is only 73 bucks. I may have to pick one of those up myself :). (But first I want a new video card ;) )

EDIT: Hmm, after looking at PH's post I failed to realize that you are talking about a notebook. Sorry :mutant:

well, the laptop RAM is much more expensive.....If you can afford it I am sure the extra 256megs the 512 gives you will help.

512 is plenty of RAM for just about anything, but there is no such thing as too much RAM (unless your using a win9x system, then you can only go as high as 512). If you can afford the extra RAM, go for it.

I'd only expand to 512 total. That notebook RAM is expensive and you really wont need any more. You also wont see much of a performance improvement either since you most likely wont get near 512 MB RAM used. Use that money on more games!!!!
