Stop being stupid. Breaking into the US capitol with guns is not a peaceful protest. Threatening members of congress with guns is not a peaceful protest. Bringing IEDs into the capitol is not a peaceful protest.

We're already in a clown world so...

Jokes aside. I feel it's a release of pent-up anger with not just a feeling of having their election being stolen. But also anger with lockdowns happening since February and the reigniting of the culture war and riots during May and the summer months.

I honestly see it as too early to call it a "political suicide" by the MAGA crowd.

sounds an awful lot like fake news to me. ive been monitoring the situation and havent seen any reports of widespread violence. there was at least a hundred of thousand people there and despite some hooligans who broke into the capitol building and took some selfies not much happened.

the only violence i saw was the police beating people and shooting an unarmed woman who was protesting peacefully. they were also intentionally trying to provoke the crowd. yet you arent mentioning that.

On the silver lining, it shows the road which populism leads to.

I do not think anyone has sufficient information to know conclusively whether the shooting of that woman was justified. Perhaps you have more evidence that I have not seen but from where I stand, having a clear stance on the legitimacy of use of force on her is merely a reflection of one's biases and not actually based on factual evidence.

Ah, but the capitol and the process are sacred. There is no peacefully interrupting it, it's actually violence definitional. No irony, but you know. Find it if you want it.

What is evident is that unlike how the Feds treated the BLM protesters in Portland this summer, the Trump supporters today were welcomed and treated as special guests who could do what they wanted and go where they wanted.
