I like that you put winner in the middle.

This is simple. While all Chinese defenses are focussed on Russia, Australia and India... the USA would bomb China to bits with nuclear warheads. They call it <american accent> friendly fire! </accent>

Will read the rest later on, but this definitely proves that it depends on who the American President is. If he's concerned with Environmental protection a lot, we'll lose, however, if he's willing to use our oil we'd have a shot.

Of course, the goals of the war also matter. I think probably the US and China would win, if winning means least casualties/least harm/annihilation. If winning is glorified (Taking all capitals or all cities like Civ or something) nobody wins.

As has been said, we'd be mostly stuck with the weapons and stuff we had at the beginning.

This, plus it turn into a nuclear war. Nobody wins, just like the movie "Wargames".

My vote is for the United States and China.

The US has the largest, most powerful, farthest-reaching blue water navy in the world, as well as the ability to strike at the industrial capacity of any nation via the USAF and USN. These two factors alone give it an enormous advantage.

China would have little trouble subduing everything in Asia east of Pakistan, minus India, and even then I wouldn't be surprised if they could threaten India with ground warfare. I mean, we're talking about the country that has successfully incorporated Tibet into its borders.

The People's Liberation Army Navy has enough reach to deal with Japan, South Korea, and a good portion of Southeast Asia. If we assume this war will take place in 20 years or so, the US could even pass off the responsibility of suppressing the Middle East to them, given how quickly they're expanding their fleet.

Western Europe, having military technology on-par with the United States in many aspects (The Leopard II being arguably superior to the Abrams), would be difficult to defeat, but it could be done with China's help.

The only real problem with this whole scheme would be if China decided to take the opportunity and annex Taiwan...
