Hi all,
I played with Rome, despite controlling what seems to be the historical regions of the Roman empire I was only given 600 points. I attached some pictures. Am I missing something or is this a bug?
Besides that here's my feedback:
1- It seems like the game has more turns than civ IV, let me know if I am wrong, and it seems to be a clever choice to counter for the slower pace of civ V compared to civ IV, however tech development seems to be a little bit too slow, especially considering I played with the lowest difficulty level.
2- The single unit per tile is at times a hindrance, especially when laying siege to cities with limited room due to mountains or water. Examples Athens or Sinope. I recall it could be changed to 2 units per tile, but correct me if wrong.
3-Limiting the number of workers as well as units who do not require resources is my opinion too constraining, it would make sense maybe to place a total population based limiter, but not a fixed number independent on other game variables.
4- When other civs spawn it is much easier to overrun them and conquer back their cities, I did it to eastern Rome and France. I am not sure if it is by design. I personally like it as a feature.
Despite these critiques I found the game surprisingly fun to play, given the rather poor design of civ V as a base game. Really kudos to @Rhye and his team for making something like this from civ V. It is probably not at the same level of game experience that civ IV RFC DoC can offer as an Earth simulator, but again I was not going to anticipate even making a conversation about a comparison since civ V has so many design flaws. Please let me know if there is more I can do as tester.
