I'm having fun in this time before Arabia spawns. I ported in with Egypt surprisingly having taken over Sur. I played nice with them to the point of agreeing to attack Greece with them. I eventually want to betray them to control Solomon's Mines, which spawned near their capital. I tried to get them in a weak position with the war with Greece but it turned out I helped them out too much and we won (more later.) I tried to shoot for Optics quickly so I could buy the Ethiopian city of Agordat to encircle Egypt. The whole game, I have made an effort to have my new military units make a Hajj to Mt Kilimanjaro so they can fight well in hills. I got the One With Nature pantheon belief because I wanted to simply profit off of Mt Sinai, and then I got the idea that if I took over Eastern African city states, eventually I would also get Mt Kilimanjaro. I mistakenly bombarded the city state that popped up beneath Agordat to death, but underneath them was my real prize; a city with Mt Kilimanjaro. Because at the time, I was warring with Greece, my economy was negative since all my ships had been pillaged, so I bullied this city into giving me 150 before attacking it. (Is that cheesing? I'm not sure if that's fair) I'm trying to get it with just 1 archer, a warrior, and a spearman I got from annexing Agordat.

Greece settled the island right off my border (Rhodes?) so they felt in my face. I made a navy of thee triremes and took advantage of whenever Greece embarked their archer and attacked and killed it while it was vulnerable. (I don't think Greece should have ever embarked its Rhodian archer; if left in place it would have dished a lot of damage out in the eastern Mediterranean.) Greece gave me Sparta in a peace deal, leaving it with just Athens, but the pirates promptly took Sparta over. I quickly withdrew to not lose any ships, and then the Romans took over it from the Pirates. The Pirates then killed it, and then I took my entire three Trireme fleet to disperse the pirates. It's tough to spawn my merchants but I did build the Great Lighthouse.

I'm having fun, curious if I will be able to keep Jerusalem once Arabia spawns. We'll see later on...

I haven't reached the Arabian spawn in my Israel game, but I did start up an Arabian game out of curiosity and wowowiewow I got so many Hunnic troops through flipping and immediately flipped Al-Quds just by osmotic pressure. If Israel is in the game, should it resist flipping? Or should the Israeli player use their merchants and army to expand away from Arabia's sphere of influence and have a sort of mission after the conversions cool down to try to retake it (a Semitic Crusade)?

I'm not sure if 100% of the troops Arabian units encounter should flip; possibly we could exempt troops in cities or troops in forts, or have some less than 100% rate. I had Theodora idiotically give me Athens out of fear in a peace offering which had a juicy 3 luxury resources that flipped my people's frowns upside down - not sure if she should have done that, but maybe my city flipping her Jerusalem had her very scared. Is Mansa Musa planned to be added to the game? It would be a nice nerf for Arabia to be booted from Western Africa so they can't be that huge...

I also played Israel before Arabia. Everything was going great until Arabia was born. All my units disappeared, and I was the second most powerful in the world. At first I couldn't figure out where they went, but then I read about Arabia's properties. It's horrible! They will convert all my units in the first 50 turns. It's just unthinkable. Even a great general was taken away.

Maybe Arabia's UU should be something like a 50% chance to convert, then if the unit resists, it is reduced to 33% at next contact, then 25%, etc

I see 2 ways to approach this:
  1. either it needs to be tuned down (e.g. any country with stability higher than x can resist conversion within its borders)
  2. or it serves a purpose for the mod, like an unstoppable Arabia is part of the historic authenticity of the mod, and therefore all who are endangered by it needs to be able to win before it rises

I survived the first 50 moves without armies, what didn't go to Arabia - died from the plague. And only then did I start to gather an army, I was ready to destroy Arabia, but the Turks were born. Now I'm fighting on two fronts and just trying to survive.

I achieved a historic victory in 2065. Only I never understood what Faith in Jerusalem was.

I read that is "every 7 turns, however much faith Jerusalem is producing (that turn? Averaged over the 7-turn period? Not sure), gain that number of victory points."
