i really don't know if this is a feature or bug, but in the attached savegame, the only naval unit i produced was a workboat which went to work a clam (i think), and yet (probably via map trading) i got the Circumnavigation bonus. the position of the workboat working the resource is a bit auspicious; it's on the eastern shore of the continent. anyway, i did not know that you could get this bonus without any naval exploration.

i'm sorry to say that i don't know how to reproduce the problem, and that this does not constitute a bug report in the format you want, but i also do think that it is the duty of the programmer, and not the user to find out how to reproduce the bug; especially when there is no contract that binds the user to do so. bear in mind, if i had an easy way to find this out, i would have.

still, if this does not meet the standards of this forum, you may delete this post at your pleasure. considering that this is not a game breaking bug for me or anyone else, please take this as an FYI, and be well.

edit: also, adding the save file might be smart. probably. yeah.

you are right, it should not be possible i think, but you did get it by maptrading. Once i sold my map to Qin and the next turn he got the extra movement point ....i was not amused ... I think you may call it a bug but i doubt if they will repair it ....

It is a feature.
The first to explore a tile in each latitude is promoted to be the first to circumnavigate the world.
You can do so by trading maps, by sailing, by walking... whatever may contribute to the exploration, contributes to the circumnavigation as well.

It's a feature, but a little weird feature: when you have good scouts and clever maptrading you are rewarded by faster ships even when you did never
research fishing ....That makes people confused. But not everything can be as realistic as we would wish.

It's not a feature, it's a bug. I just found this out.... I did some map trading, and as soon as I created a galley I got the "Circumnaviged the globe" bonus.

Even if you have a map which shows 1 square at each latitude that doesn't mean you've circumnavigated the globe. That's probably how it's worked out, but then it's a design flaw - you could argue it's not a bug as such, but then many bugs are in fact design flaws. Needs to be fixed anyway because you shouldn't get a ship movement bonus when you haven't done anything with ships yet.
