Civ4 does not work well with my UPS - between 1 and 4 minutes after starting a Civ4 session, my UPS starts whining. The whining stops when I change to another application window, and does not immediately start again when I switch back to Civ4, but the rate of whining increases the longer the Civ4 session lasts. That is supposed to mean it has lost contact with the PC or outside power source, but of course, that is not the case. I've checked IRQ and port settings, tried most of the Civ4 hardware settings. Civ4 is not configured for any multi-player stuff. The only unusual thing about my system is that I have dual monitors and usually have various apps running at the same time, but those do not strain the hardware.
