Dear all,
apologies for the huge delay.
Caught by real life circumstances and impeded by a bug that I could not figure out, this update slipped until now.

Changelog:
- Fixed lost ability for settlers to be escorted, and set the movement to 3
- Polder now can be built outside of marshes and gives a different kind of strategic advantage to the Dutch
- Dutch victory condition added: must keep turn expenses below a threshold
- Civs and leaders pedia displayed correctly
- Worker actions no longer available in foreign territory. The roads exploit should be more difficult now. “Route-to” command may still be used, but it’s less convenient. Hotkey “R” will also not work.
- Industrial and Contemporary buildings and projects made cheaper in order to match the shorter timeline
- Industrial and Contemporary units made slightly cheaper in order to match the shorter timeline
- victory types other than role-play disabled
- small aesthetic changes to the policies panel
- disabled speech for wonder splash
- Nebuchadnezzar graphics replaced by Ashurbanipal, as way more convincing as Babylonian leader
- updated Qin Shi’s speech with more accurate one

I'll send the PMs with the download link now. If I forgot someone pls message me.
There is a long list of players who sent messages to join so I can't assign tasks one by one. But I will write below here a few of them, and you can pick what you want.

- test Japanese tiles count, if it's working or not
- test again late game, pointing at redundant stuff coming in the late tech tree
- keep an eye on AI behaviour regarding settlers escort
- test Dutch victory
... more to come

cause you can see Ishtar's gate and other Babylonian architecture. Nebuchadnezzar is just a bloke on a stone throne
Fair enough, but Ashurbanipal's speech mentions the "kingdom of Assyria", and I think Nebuchadnezzar has the coolest leaderscene of all Civ 5 leaders...the green flames, the growling voice, the sinister music. But ultimately, I respect your decision either way.

I also want to say thank you for the years of entertainment that RFC for Civ 4 and the various modmods have provided me. RFC mods are probably 85-90% of my CIV experience, with the rest being Civ V scenarios and the occasional other game. Sometimes I play the Civ III scenarios for nostalgic purposes, as well...Sengoku is probably my favorite.

Oh I see. Is that in the speech or in the text?

Thanks for working on this Rhye. I'm going to test out Japan.

I seem to be getting a crash whenever trying to load the mod.

Looking in the logs in Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Logs, I see this potentially sus log in the Database file: I'm wondering if anybody else has encountered crashes or if it is an issue due to my local machine

Hi Team,

Not exactly sure what qualifies as a bug, but I have started two games as the Phoenicians, completed the Liberalism policy, and both the Great Scientist and Great Merchant have been unable to build their buildings in my cities (Academy, Custom House) - Is there a technology requirement for these buildings (meaning the omission is deliberate), or does that need to be fixed?

Thanks! I will poke around Japan next. I just wanted to try an uber ancient civ first.

Hello, thanks. I think there is a confusion. In Civ V, Great People can build Great Tile Improvements, not buildings within the city.

I was able to build it with your save:

Yeah, I miss the stacks of doom too :) stacks of buildings in the city!!! :D

Herp derp! I switch between Civ IV Colonization to Civ V to Civ VI! Thank you for the clarification; I feel truly like a Chieftain lol

Ok team, another question, but this one is more on point and less due to jetlag zipping from Civ to Civ...

The Viking naval unit, the Longboat, supposedly receives (steals?) 33% of the attack value in gold when attacking cities per their City Raider upgrade, however, this doesn't trigger when attacking ranged. I think of Vikings pillaging with quick boat-borne attacks. Was this a design decision, or an omission? I don't want the Vikings to be OP; I was just curious why the upgrade didn't trigger.

Another Scandi head scratcher: I initially looked for Iceland past Ireland, but I realize it is northerly after reviewing the map on the ReadMe. I restarted and settled Narvik. bought the dangerous water tile, and I pressed end turn before being able to pass with my Longboat. However, the light blue seen at the edge of the map is artistic, not functional; north of Scandinavia there is no Westerly route. Iceland and Greenland settlements, as well as a failed attempt at New World colonization are part of the Scandinavian Extended Universe so I feel this is important!

If I'm not mistaken:
  • The Longboat is an import from another mod. I'm not sure Rhye designed this.
  • The dangerous waters should be removed at the beginning of a turn if the tile is owned. I did not test it but that's what I see in the code.

I must say the mod is quite stable and enjoyable.
I'd say religion could use a little customization though.
I've played as Arabia and I had to spend energy in order to get a religion. Makes little sense historically and given the RPV. What about granting them a free prophet from the start?
I guess it could be done for other civs also.
I've played as Spain and there was no Christian religion yet. Maybe something scripted is needed here. Like, if no one has this religion by 200AD, Jerusalem or Rome should found it?

I agree. Was it RFC 4 where you needed to race to found Judaism or if you didn't by a certain time, it would be founded in Jerusalem by a certain moment in time? Jerusalem should similarly also be the home of Christianity, although perhaps you could steal home status if you conquer a holy city by using a Great Prophet? Something similar already happens in RFC 5, Carthage switches its capital to Quart-Hadasht once you found it, no capital project required. Rome would be inclined to want to steal Christianity, but then maybe Germany and other powers would want to sack Rome and take it for themselves? There would also be a race to found Orthodoxy but if nobody beats it, it would be founded in Constantinople. Russia would want to steal it from whoever has Constantinople

I think Rome would need to go and get Christianity from Jerusalem by, say, 300 (or 313/310) AD. They killed Iseus, but once many of the slaves of the Empire and some of the well born converted, they got Constantine who switched.
