After having become fed up with a number of issues with the official patch, like always starting in the same position on the board 
, I'm giving this a try in hopes of a more balanced gameplay. I'm wondering which of the extra features I can turn off--I can turn off non-Independence victories, correct? And I am guessing that I can select opponents to keep annoying players like the Pirates out, correct? Any other guidelines to make this a bit more "vanilla" without wading knee-deep into configuration files?
