i know some of you might think this is a dumb question, but i dont know so please answer. What is vannilla civ or something like that. I have heard of it but is it like a mod or something? what is it exactly? please answer

Well, Vanilla Civ is the name for Civ IV.

"Vanilla" means either "unmodded" or "base game without expansions".

This is not Civ specific, the term will be recognized on the boards of most games.

Think food. Vanilla ice cream is usually plain ice cream. IE ice cream without chocolate, berries, caramel or anything else.

So Vanilla Civ is Civ without any mods or expansions. IE Civilization IV, the original release (vanilla civ DOES include the official patches, though).

I asked the same thing over on the Civ3 forums back when I was new to the website. Before Civ, I never frequented online message boards for video games, so I was unaware of the lingo myself.
