is it possible to have a vassal who already has a vassal and for your vassal to keep his vassal? i know its kind of a goofy question but i was just wondering

No, if someone that has a vassal capitulates to you, his vassals will break free.

Regarding the diplomacy status of Vassals, I just found out the hard way that the interface does NOT show you the true attitude of others towards you if vassals are involved - I got attacked by Sury when he had been at Friendly for a long, long time (a lot longer than he had been in attack mode, I went back to autosaves and checked), apparently because he hated my vassal (though he wasn't even his worst enemy). Also explains why he didn't trade me any techs or sign a defensive pact despite having +20 diplo with me . It makes some sense, but I wish the interface could somehow show me the combined attitude towards me and my Vassal...

No, if someone that has a vassal capitulates to you, his vassals will break free.

This happens even if the vassal was originally a colony, which is nice.

Quick question, can vassals run spy missions against their masters? I'm fighting against Sitting Bull, and considering taking him as vassal since I don't want a long fight and his land is pretty stretched out, but I very certainly don't want to get my water poisoned every five turns without being able to do anything about it...

After a certain patch ( 3.17 (?) ) vassals don't run spy missions vs their masters.
