Hey to you all, I was away from civ4 and after some time I started playing again and apparently I am too much for noble now...

Anyways, I have some questions,

1. I play as incas in my last game and I am fighting the summerians. They are friends with english and I gift 50 gp every 9 turns to keep them from joining the fight... So is gifting abusable this way? say, I give only 1 gp every 9 turns which will stop them from joining the fight...

2. What happens if Summerians decide to vassalize themselves to english? English cant fight me because of the gifting, I cannot fight the Summerians since they become the puppet of english...

3. Also I attacked a stack of catapults with my horse archers in one of my games but didnt cause any flanking damage... Is there a chance to deal flanking damage? I read the civopedia but couldnt clear that out...

Thanks in advance for your time...

1. You gift 50 gp to the English?
This will have no effect, the English can still declare at you.
They can't declare however when you demand (or nicely ask when you're pleased with them) something and they give it to you. They probably will give in the first time you ask (if you have some decent power), but they probably won't give it the second or thirth time you ask it (unless you've way bigger power than them, but in that case they won't fight you anyway). This is considered 'cheating' by some players.

2. If the Sumerians vassal to the English the English will automaticly declare war at you (you can't do anything about it). Even if you've demanded something of them and they have a peace treaty, they will still declare war when the Sumerians vassal to them.

3. I've no idea how flanking works honestly

ah... I see...

Then the same principle work both ways right? If AI demands something and I give it, it grants me protection for 10 turns...

Correct. Im pretty sure this also counts for "per turn" deals (inherits a "peace treaty for 10 turns")

And, flanking only works if you survive the battle. If you retreated you still cause flank attack just as if you won, but if you die you got nothin.
