Vassalage single city civ

anyone know if its possible to vassalage a single city civilization?
i try everything like pillage evertyhing and destroy all units but still i dont get the warscore i need.
somethimes i dont want to kill a civilization and they keep on declaring war.

tips and tricks?

Since they hate you, there's nothing you can do except staying at war and killing their units until their economy collapses. At least it's free XP.

Place a few Citadels between you and them so that there are no passages in the auras. The aura of Citadels '30 damage' drives away various rogue units very well. Sometimes you can even not put a garrison in them.
