The main difference other than the color is that the Banshee's propellors are part of the wing structure of the vehicle..thats my best way of describing it.

Can this be used in Civ 5, or would you need to convert it into something else?
They would need to be converted to work with civ5. I'm not sure if this is the most up to date, but, here is a tutorial on how to convert civ4 meshes to civ5:
