Very long load times loading save list

I've just played a handful of games up until now, but I tend to save a lot (nothing excessive, though).

When I press "load game" now, there is a pause of between 30 and 60 seconds before the list of savegames is presented.

I'm sure it's depended on the number of saves, and the speed of your drive, but it's simply not working properly at the moment. You can't build a game around everyone owning an SSD and/or not saving a lot.

It seems instead of loading the names of the saves, and forming a list, it loads everything (that is, metadata about all the saves), before presenting the list. This is ludicrous. The list should appear first, then the metadata should load in the background.

Either that, or I'm experiencing a bug.

You are experiencing an over-zealous virus scanner, probably Windows Defender. Set appropriate exceptions and you will be fine.

No, that's not the issue.

That wasn't a symptom of the virus scanner problems the game had.
