I am very picky when it comes to adding new units and mods, and I only like to add the best.

I followed the tutorial on how to add the Coracle unit, and although it isn't perfect, it worked!!

All except the Civpedia was a bit dogy (no img, funny description error)

Now, I want to add the AttackChopper and TransportPlane unit's to my game, but these come with their own files, and are not just a modification.

Please, could someone spare the time to write instructions down.....

I attempted myself, but I got stuck on renaming files and wot-not.

Ummm....I thought you already manage to add a new unit on your own??

Anyway, it is fairly simple:

1) Download the hacked Civ3Edit (I assume you have already done so)

2) Use the Add button under unit to add say Attack Copter

3) Next, go to the Civilization3/Art/unit directory. Add a directory call Attack Copter (This has to be the same as the unit name!)

4) Unzip the Attack Copter files into this directory

5) Go back to the Civ3Edit and set the A/D/M points for this unit.

6) As you have already make your first unit, I take it that you know how to point the unit info to a place in the civilopedia. If not, there is a box in each unit info that points to civilopedia. Just copy an entry from other unit, say fighters (which goes something like PRTO_Fighter) and you are set!

In order to make sure that everything works in the directory of the new unit, you must make sure that there is a file called Attack Copter.ini. This file basically tell Civ3 what animation file to use, what embien sound to use, etc. You can open this file with any text editor, as long as all the files mentioned inside are in the Attack Copter directory, you are done.:D

Hope this helps.

I was just getting a bit stuck.

What are the best units to add?

I think the best are the one's with completely new graphics and wot-not!!

Where do I add this .ini file??

What should it say inside?

The attack chopper came with new graphics, and I don't know how to get the game to use that img.

Also, it didnt come with any sounds. Should I use sounds from the normal helicopter?

What should I name them?

Plz help,

Plz help,

Actaully every folder contains an ini file for each unit. It specify which animation file to use for running, walking, attacking, fidget, dying etc. It also specify what sound file to use and and the animation delay and what not :D

I have downloaded the attack Copter but yet to install it. But if you are not sure about the ini file, I suggest you copy one from any of the other unit folder and rename it to Attack Copter.ini then start changing the line inside the file. Its pretty easy to understand once you open up the file to take a look;) You can actually use any .wav file for your unit sound. So I guesss the original sound for helicopter should be fine for moving.

I made an .ini file, and I got that bit sorted.

But i havent pieced it altoghether to make it work.

So, I have to extract all the files to the Attack Chopper file in the Art/unit directory, and then I have edited added the file through Civedit (hacked version, then opening the otehr edit file)...that worked (or so it seems!!)

So, when I run it, it should work??

Is there any way to get up to advanced flight (i said it needed that) so that I can test??

If you just want to test the unit, why don't make it so all it needs are bronze working and make it available only to the Civ that you are using to test the files.:D

As for me, I usually added a number of things at one go then test it with a full game to see if AI know how to use these new government type and units :king:
