I trying to uninstall Civilization 3, and then reinstall because an error message appears whenever I start a new game. But when I install it again, the game doesn't appear on my computer. What am I doing wrong? The Infogrames folder is there, but the Civilization folder inside is not.

Did you percahce change to folder the game is installed to? So it is not in the Infogrames folder at all? Use the search function to find it.
