Ok, here I am wanting to reproduce the famous Tank vs Spearman thingy (I need a second one so Shaitan will have to eat his hat). So i play on Chieftain, just leasurly building up, while I made uranium a prerequisite for all units better then Spearmen so the AI will have to rely on Spearmen and I`ll have plenty of opportunity to fight them with tanks. Naturally I`m way ahead in tech, just reaching the Industrial Times when......

I discover Metallurgy. OK, as usal I get asked what to develop next. The suggestion is Military Tradition, but I change this to Nationalism so I`ll get Steam Power as a free tech. I don`t want to get Nat since I want to get to tanks asap.....

Now I`d expect to get a popup saying I found Steam Power, but instead I get Nationalism. Since I was researching it, I get asked what to research. I click on "What`s the big picture and get the following popup.....

   :crazyeyes :crazyeyes :crazyeyes

I got the same problem when playing Chinese. I built the Theory of Evolution, and should get two free techs. Then the popup said that "President, we've just learned the Atomic Theory from the America, ....". And American even didn't know Medicine at that time.

A funny bug.

If yer serious here i'd recommend playing on Regent, so that there are no combat modifiers for you -- otherwise, it's going to be harder to find the elusive tank v. spearman battle that goes your way.

AFAIK there`s no combat bonus, only prod + tax....
