A warmth begins to blanket the top half of your face, making its way down your forehead. Your eyes open on their own in response to the light flooding into your room as it does every morning. You turn your head to look to the source-
“Hey!” A familiar shriek fills the air of an otherwise calm morning. Your face is facing opposite of the source of light - the window with the Summer sun shining bright behind it - cupped in the hand of your older sister. “Every morning we go over this! I’m gonna move your bed to somewhere else! You know Sunna punishes those that look at Her! It’s way too dangerous.”
You ignore your older sister’s ramblings as you always do, waving her hand away. You’ve peaked at the Goddess plenty of times and you still had your sight. Maybe She likes you, had Iida ever considered that?
“Ugh, you’re so frustrating. Come on, get up buckethead. Don’t you have something to do today?” Iida wasn’t really phrasing it as a question. More than likely she wanted you out of the room so the both of you can get a start of their respective chores. She was probably waiting for a while for you to get up but ran out of patience. She works way too hard.
You sit up and get out of bed while she receives your usual silence. She mutters something about being confused how a ten-year-old could be so quiet all the time and goes about cleaning their shared room. You wonder how a sixteen-year-old can be so loud all the time.

What do you do now?

  1. You do actually have something to do today. Dad wanted you for something.
  2. You have plenty of time in the day. Let’s look around the room. You like your room.
  3. You wonder if mom made breakfast yet. You’re kinda hungry.

(For those wondering about my game, it is still on. This is mainly a winding down excercise while I'm at work too burned out to actually do intensive things like making memes and working on games. Let's see if we do something interesting with this.)

Reserve post for the sake of archiving. Post and stuff now.

2, not like we know who/what/when/where/how we are.

Dad can wait and it’s not like you’re going to starve any time soon. So long as you stay out of Iida’s way, you should be fine idling for a moment. This is what you think as you stand to the side of your bed. You look around to see if anything catches your eye. At your own urgings, your sister helped you redo the room not too long ago.

Not that it was too hard. Your father’s business is doing well, so he bought a new house with large enough rooms for you and your sister to decorate over time with. You’ve been living in this house for a few months and had redecorated several times already. All you two had was Iida’s desk where she studied various books dad gets her and your shelf where you stock whatever dad has you make as practice with the purpose of succeeding the family business, since your older brother is off fighting in the war and all. In contrast to him, you actually sorta like blacksmithing, which is why you spend a lot of your time in your room contemplating the things you make. The family still only owns enough facilities for one person to work the smithy, comparing your works to the pictures in the books is the best you can do to learn when dad is working.

You walk up to the shelf directly across from your bed. The first thing you inspect is a helmet.

This is your favorite creation. Obviously, it’s not the best helmet. But dad said it’s actually fairly sturdy and made well enough to sell if we hadn’t been noticed by rather exceptional customers. You wouldn’t sell it anyways. Annoyingly, it’s why your sister calls you buckethead all the time. She doesn’t appreciate the hard work of armorsmithing like the daughter of a blacksmith should.
Along with the helmet are various other projects, most of which are fairly worthless but you keep them around as a reminder. You secretly love them all, but you can’t even let your dad know that. He wants you to strive better than this, which is understandable.

You were thinking introspectively so much that you hadn’t noticed your sister was standing by waiting for you to move. You jump a bit when she coughed to get your attention. She had already finished cleaning her side of the room and wanted to get on with the day. It’s why she woke you up in the first place. You mumble an apology before walking out of her way. You briefly observe her desk, noting the open book. You’re not terribly literate, but you think it has something to do with magic. Dad told her not to bother with that since magic has been proven way too much of an effort in recent times to practice, but she seems fixated. You guess some people like wasting their time with weird sorcery while others spend their time doing more productive things, like making things out of metal. What a weirdo.

Now you’re the foot of your sister’s bed, right in front of the door. You’ve spent enough time in your room. What now?

  1. Dad usually doesn’t keep you long these days. Let’s see what he wants.
  2. You’re getting pretty hungry now but you’ve never been one to complain. Still, you also really like mom’s cooking. Can’t dad wait a little longer..?

A hungry worker is a clumsy worker. 2.
