Over the weekend, I was re-watching the "Charge of the Light Brigade" (1968) which by all means is a great classic movie...however I noticed a few instances of what resembled "modern" British Army drill. Now I don't want to turn this into a dissection of the film, but instead I was wondering at what point did the British Army switch from the traditional sliding foot drill of the Napoleonic period, to the traditional up 6 inches and ramming one's foot into the parade square that we now associate with the modern British Army?
