George Washington....what a sissy! As France, I shared a continent with Arabia, Russia and America. Almost from the start Washington kept needling me about how sad my army was. So did Catherine, but she had ONE city and at the time I had four. I was building my forces, mostly because I figured ol' Wooden-Teeth would attack me soon. But he went after Arabia first and took Mecca. Meanwhile Cathy decided to take a CS to my north in the tundra. To do so she had to cross my lands and I did have OB with her. But hey, I needed a CS ally for the luxury resources and Washington wouldn't trade with me at all. Period.
Cathy had a good number of Spearmen, but they were smack in the middle of my property and thus arrow fodder. Moscow was undefended and it only took as long as the time my units needed to get there to take it from her. Bye Bye Cathy.
But then Washington plops a city too close to Moscow for my comfort. I tried to be nice and trade with him again, but he basically told me to screw off. Seriously, I don't know what I could have done to piss him off. He called me bloodthirsty too, which I can't grok....HE'S THE ONE THAT STARTED A WAR OF CONQUEST! I really wish they'd patch up the AI's diplomacy. Because by this point his army was outmatched by mine....why would he want to pluck my nerves? He had spearmen stationed along my border so its not like he was going to play nice. Long story short I killed his army and then took Washington, New York, Philadelphia and another city. I razed one. Each time I tried to negotiate peace, but I wouldn't accept it unless he gave up Mecca. (I was going to give it back to Arabia.)
So now Washington is down to a few piddly cities that I can basically destroy or take at will. But my unhappiness is 26 so I might have to stop before I can make him cry uncle. Mecca isn't even on the table in negotiations anymore. (I'm guessing its his new capitol, but I tried to get Damascus from him. He won't budge, mostly because Damascus and Boston are all he has left.
I don't know...should I just crush him entirely or stop now? Unhappiness 26 is killing my production and cashflow. (Courthouse are being built). Or should I raz boston and give Arabia Damascus? At this point Washington is no longer a threat and I'm getting along fine with Arabia. Along with my own spices and dyes I now have gold from the CS, and Washington's pearls and gems and Russia's furs. Should I stop now and try to regain my production and economic footing? I'm not sure how to speed up that process).
