Video editing

Hi folks

I'm looking for a (preferably freeware...) software that I can use to edit mp4/avi, etc.

Basically I want to cut/paste scenes from movies into new files. Anyone can point me to such a software?

I'd go with that for X-mas. It's gift-range price and it's pretty capable, I think. I have Premiere Pro and it's a good package.

You can probably find a much cheaper copy on Amazon or E-Bay or something.
