Any warlord players have any comments about Carthage and the Vikings? - seapower enhancement? - the UUs ? looks like they got the Numidean done right this time. Are these Civs good "seafaring" civs and does it matter?

Not really. They both have a finacial though; which is nice for their coastal cities.

Civ 4 really dropped the ball on the 'naval' part of the game though.

ya they dont get naval bouneses but when i play with Ragnar(vikings) he uasully circumnavigates the world first cause (i hate navy) so the AI of these civs might focus on navy more than others

They both got Unique Buildings that can be build in coastal cities only. The Vinking one gives their navy a huge advantage very early in the game. And Berserks start with Amphibious promotion which is also nice

Probably because their unique building gives all naval units free Navigation I promotion. Incidentally, I'm playing as Vikings right now and managed to get the circumnavigation bonus for the first time, without really even trying.

I think they did the vikings pretty well. They're financial, which goes well with costal cities. The unique building gives you an extra movement point for boats, and their UU gets free amphibious.

All this means they're very well adapted to archipelago maps. Because of the UU and UB you're likely to bee-line to the naval techs, and are more likley to circumnavigate the globe. Maybe not so great if you're playing pangaea, but on continents or terra they're an extremely powerful civ.

The Vikings are very OK. I got them in my first game (after selecting "random leader"). I think the UB giving the extra ship movement is quite good, certainly with the amphibious Berserker, but it did not make a big difference to me in my game. I was on a continent of a standard map together with two other civs.

Navy in the early games doesn't really have a lot to do, in my opinion. I did not encounter barb galleys along the cost, and the AI was just exloring with his single trireme, so apart from my few (two to be exact) early exploring and defending triremes I did not really have to use these.

Jaca

We forgot Carthage by they have the cothon a harbor 4 there UU

also both civs start with fishing as there 2 beggining techs wich is helpful to caostal cities
