Vista profiles switching

Hi,

I have two profiles in my vista pc. If my brother is using his profile to download, is it safe for me to switch user without interrupting his download?

Switch user, yes. This way both of you are logged in at the same time (one in the background).

so, his download will not be interrupted.

Not to burst the bubble though, but if something you are doing causes the system to crash, that's another story.
