Another 100 days???

Map Size 50(x) x 200(y)
Large Landmass, Continental
Arid, Cool, 3 Billion

We are the French (who are led by an Italian).

AIs: Romans, Zulus or Japanese (I forget which), Egyptians, Chinese, Greeks (I think), and -- of course -- the Mongol Hordes.

Our start: one Settler and Alphabet.

Challenging enough, perhaps ...

And since the opening round of turns is just bound to be filled with endless excitement ...

4000 bc. A Gaulish village founded.
3950 bc. Village druids commence work on a Code of Laws for the Gaulish peoples.
3750 bc. Warriors assembled and set forth to explore the world; Gaulish village descends into chaos (over smelly fish or perhaps an overzealous bard, nes pas?).

3600 bc. Wine discovered; declared national drink of the Gauls. Gaulish village remains in chaos, despite liberal applications of
Chardonney.
3550 bc. Druids announce that they've nearly finished the compilation of a Code of Laws.

Shall I play next (and see if we get fewer barbs early on?) Or will someone else step in and give us a chance at life before the reds strike us...

I'd be interested in joining, although I think D+3 is brutal. :rocket:
I usually play D+1 or (much less often) +2, so at least I'm familiar with the general terrain. I really enjoyed reading the write-ups on the last D+3, and can't stand being on the sidelines.

Welcome aboard!:goodjob:

I'd be happy to be in another, but I'd also be happy to watch from the sidelines should there be a newer bunch looking to dabble in the D+3 realm.

By the way, any clue as to specific map challenges on this one, Andu?

Well, if that's everyone, a random playing order based on the third letter would yield.

With eight players, we may want to keep the first round to 15 turns (I played ten); and the second round to 10 turns.

As mentioned before: we are north, massive continent to the south; though not exactly a "pangaea" in that it is broken up by bays. Starting with one settler and one tech probably presents a more significant challenge vis-a-vis the AI civs.

Please let me start off with an apology -- I went ahead and snapped off twenty turns (and they do go soooo quickly with only one unit to move.)

It was strangely pleasant to see 9 beakers towards our next discovery... with zero coins.

- 3450 (2) -- Notice that our Gaulish villiage is at size 2 (even though in an uproar) -- so we ask one of our hearty folks to put on a smail so the other can get to work. We also espy a small hut at stellar coordinantes of (75,31 for those who look at the stars)

- 3400 (3) -- And we hesitantly step in and...greet some wandering Nomads! Hmmm a tough choice -- but a delightful one. the nomads choose to move south & West back towards familiar territory.

- 3100 (4) -- Our Wandering Warrior presses his luck (again) and...visits a star crossed hut (77, 25) to discover horse back riding (just the thing to distinguisg us from other ragged folks.)

- (The Nomad proceeds to road a bit)

- 2800 (15) Our very brave (and not so smart Warrior risks yet again (!)) and in another hut (81, 33) finds...50 coins! We have no clue what to do with these.

- 2750 (16) Found Random Settled with our Nomads after traveling so far and laying some roads.

- 2700 (17) Spend a lot of coins for shields

- 2650 (18) ditto the above

- 2600 (19) The Random Settled send a mounted Frank out to explore, defend and share robust manners to all who come too close (Oh by the way The Random Settled decide to go fishing and become uproarious in doing so.)

- 2550 (20) Discover a new hut within the city limits but decide to leave it (partly because we've been too lucky so far.)

Only after playing my 20 turns and signing on do I see that Andu only played ten turns and then he's suggested that we all do the same. :o

Hmmm I'm having a hard time -- two of my posts were interrupted before completion.

We discovered Code & opted for CB; also noticed that Andu recommended 15 turns each for the first round, not 10 right away -- (I owe somebody 5 turns.)

Well, I'm up. I guess if I can't get the MGE patch to work to play my turns on the NoWoW game, I can at least get in my 15 turns on the D+3 game. If today is a good day, maybe I'll even fulfill both obligations.

I hope it is not too late to modify the name of this game:

We say in French: "Vive l'Empereur"
