Vocabulary of various civilizations

I was always wondering what do the phrases of various civilizations mean
Apart from english , french , greek (my language) and ancient greek (Byzantium) I don't understand anything
Can you help ?

Seems that all the phrases in all the languages mean more or less the same thing.
