I thought it would be interesting a poll about natural wonders that you would like to see in a upcoming DLC. I add 3 natural wonders from North America, 5 from South America, 4 from Europe, 5 from Africa, 5 from Asia and 2 from Oceania. Vote for two natural wonders.
It would be interesting to give ideas about the bonus that they could provide. For example, the Sacred Valley of the Incas was an important area for maize production, so this natural wonder could provide a lot of food.Tell me also if you would add or remove some natural wonder.

I really want to see Mt. Rainier, tallest mountain in the continental US with a very distinctive shape, and Mt. Ararat, another very distinctive mountain and powerful symbol of Armenia.

Victoria Falls is a lesser known wonder? The education system is clearly falling down... ;-p
No no hahaha. I meant a few natural wonders like the Erg Chebbi, the Teide, the Deadvlei etc. Other wonders like Hạ Long Bay or Victoria Falls are well known .

Mt Ararat, Sundarbans, Elephant Foot Glacier, Lake Baikal, Lake Maracaibo, Richat Structure, Nile River, Socotra Island, and either Zuma Rock or Uluru. Okavango would be nice but probably too similar to Pantanal (Though that didn't stop Piopiotahi V2 I guess)

Niagara Falls and Iguaçu Falls could be added to the list as well.

I note for a future list.

the only thing with some of these wonders is whether you think they would opt for natural wonders that are easier to create artistically, great waterfalls for example seem to me to be very difficult to replicate in a compact and palatable style for the game. That is why I voted for things like the 'Stone Forest' in China and 'The Sacred Valley of the Incas'

Indeed, the scale of the game certainly presents a difficulty on both ends. Any one of Angel Falls, Niagara Falls, Victoria Falls, or Dettifoss, for example, would certainly be worthy of inclusion, but how do you accurately portray that on a map? Likewise with certain rivers like the Nile, Amazon, or Mississippi that would make excellent natural wonders, or with particularly large features like the Grand Canyon.

Hmm, I actually like the idea of putting some of the great rivers in, and maybe it would be in fact possible, however, I do think that there needs to be changes with perhaps the rewards of natural wonders as, because they are so strong, they are often found in unrealistic locations stuck in tundra and on snowy plains where no one will use them.

But I really like the idea of having great rivers of the world, such as the nile, and even the Tigris as a great natural wonder. They have been as much throughout history.

How many tiles would a big river need?
Is a great idea, but I think that the bonuses should be received when placing the city by the river. A river would be too long so that each tile give bonuses.

The waterfalls you would probably have to somehow totally alter the map script to run the river "through" the tile, but hard to say exactly how the game would treat those resulting tiles. And yeah, having natural wonder rivers would be cool as well, but it would definitely be imbalanced to have a 10-tile river give something like +1 food to adjacent tiles. I think you'd have to essentially only designate the last 2 or 3 tiles from the river as the "natural wonder" portion.

Mt. Vesuvius should add culture in every surrounding rule and housing to a city founded adjacent to it in my opinion. (Looking at what the big city of Naples has to offer us)

Well, you could either halve the value of benefit from the great river, or just have a section of the river that you use. A great example of this could be the nile which would only really need two tiles to show the mouth of the river.

Rivers as natural wonders that give a bonus to cities founded next to them sounds good to me.
I think we lack natural wonders in the desert so far. We have some wonders that make founding cities in the tundra worth it, but not in the desert. I think a few more here can spice up the game. How about Chapeau de Napoléon (Morocco), Zhangye Dana (China), Guelb er Richat (Mauretania), and the White Desert (Egypt)?

And some more lakes (that can appear on near mountains) like the Uvs Lake (Mongolia) or Lake Manasarovar (China)?

I like variety, but there should never be too many NW on one map. They should remain special and not crowded and common.

While I agree, I think they could be a little more common than they are at present...And maybe they could spawn near city-states a little less often? ;)

As for desert natural wonders, I'd love to see Barringer Crater return. I've been there in real life and it's quite a sight. Petrified Forest could be another good one.

Yeah it seems always to be tricky. I feel like they should be in a relatively central position, at least some of them, they should be away from Civs a bit and worth fighting for. Maybe putting them in the middle of multiple civs so they fight over them? I am not entirely sure how that would work mapscript wise but it could be an idea.

I do like your idea Siptah, that natural wonders could come in the form or rivers that give a mild boost to cities founded along them and maybe for the tiles along them. I do not really see why they all have to be an amazing wonder that gives so much to the player that settles there.
