Okay...so I've gone a little Poll Crazy today, but people have suggested that the most frequent ideas from the "Official Civ4 Ideas Thread" be voted on. For anyone who's ideas I don't have room to post, I apologize, but this is for the most frequent or outstanding ideas that have been illustrated in the thread.

i posted the same poll, only multiple choice

i had to say civil wars mainly because i couldnt take them all in, but i liked that in civ2

If everyone is gonna vote for almost everything why bother making a poll ;)

But if I have to choose a few: immigration, civil wars, terrain naming and selling units

yeah, if i were making it i would say please chose only 3-5,but it's really not mine so...

we can prove people didn't simply vote for everything by looking at spherical map

I want more random events (like Natural Disasters) in Civ4. Immigration, Civil Wars that spawn new Civs, Depressions or Dark Ages, those all would be cool ideas also.

Maybe this would work:
The ability to found new civs.... The European powers colonized the Americas - I don't need to point out what arose from that little adventure. The British founded Australia and New Zealand amongst others but are no longer considered colonies but individual countries of their own right.
OK... this is what I've got so far. Depending on both the map size and the size of the continent/island that is colonized (perhaps this could only apply to colonies on different landmasses to your founding civ), you would found a certain amount of cities... eg. 5 cities. At any time after this critical mass has been reached you are given the option of annexing this land, thus creating a new nation/civ. The civ generated could be entirely based on the civ that founds it... ie, Britain founds Canada. These new civs would have their own UU and specific traits. It could also be reversed so America founds Britain for instance :)
This newly created nation, owing it's existence to your good self, would be obligated to join you in ANY military venture you undertake (but not nessacarily vice versa).. sort of like a one way MPP. Any resources they have are shared with your civ, provided there are harbors and what not. Perhaps a certain amount of gold per turn would be contributed from you new offspring... any suggestions?

The improved diplomacy screen so that you can play with more than 8 opponents without going crazy is the best suggestion I've seen yet.

But every suggestion so far has looked pretty minor to me. Definite "Yeah, ok, I guess that would be cool" stuff that leaves me wondering what will really make Civ IV be new and exciting and not just a few changes you'd expect in a service pack or expansion.

what is meant by "peacekeeping missions". It sounds nice, does it means you can develop a comando to stop a dictator in your neighbourhood?
Otherwise, changing the face of your leader is a very good idea, civil wars too.

I would have also a cosmetic change: every culture group has their own names for the units/buildings. so the building temple in civ3 would have in civ4 the names temple (roman), church (european), mosque (mid-eastern), .... and the nowadays cathedral cathedral (european), oracle (roman), ... perhaps it would make the things more complicated, but...

Another thing I'm missing in this list is:
tile randomness: every tile has calculated his ressources (shields, commerce, food) with some factors (climate, coast, bonus/strategic/luxus ressources, height (above sea), forestation)

I'm with real goober on this one in the fact that Random events would make the game so much more interesting.

Civil wars that spawn new Civs
The ability to give away (or sell) units to allies
Sphereical map
The choice of more than one leaderhead

I would dislike having any of the other ones, although these are good (but not all original)

"peacekeeping" Missions sounds interesting as long as it does not take over the game – become too powerful as a tool!

I voted for about 2/3 of them. All are good ideas that I'd like to see if future versions of the game, especially civil wars, the Armadas, and the two espionage ideas (very cool).

If anyone wants to know what "peacekeeping" missions are you can read the thread on which this poll is based. Basically, it is the idea that a civ can send troops to aid an attacked nation without officially declaring war (there are variants listed in the thread). By the way, if anyone dosen't like the content of the poll, they can make their own poll. The poll isn't perfect, and it wouldn't bother me if some people got together to make a more effective one. Think of this poll as a "prototype" for better, future polls if anyone feels they could make one.
