I was asking myself:
"With all the recent AI improvements, does people still manage to win at Deity in standard setup ?".

If you have time after finishing a game, even at non-deity difficulty, please fill this:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1oigSaaPTEYiYoD7cWWZUpQKyi31FNacuGzK1XROA_RY/edit?usp=sharing

There is one sheet per version of the mod. Feel free to add new sheets/columns
(for ex, a sheet for the Community Patch, ...)

(EDIT: V3)

Version: Format YYYY-MM-DD. Please check that you are on the good sheet.
Username: Name, CivFanatics username, steam username, ... It is an optional information.
Outcome: Victory, Defeat, or any unfinished game
On Era: Era of the end of your game. If you rage-quit a defeat or lazy-quit a victory, put the era of quitting.
Type of Victory: Of the winner. M=Militaristic, D=Diplomatic, C=Culture, S=Science, T=Time
Difficulty: Actual difficulty level 1-8
Expected difficulty: Tick the corresponding cell. Easy -> You expected to win. Chal -> Challenging. Diff -> You expected to lose.
Victory felt: Tick the corresponding cell: Easy, Contested or Impossible?
Game Speed: Q=Quick, S=Standard, E=Epic, M=Marathon
Map Size: if not standard.
Civ: the civ used
Other remarks: The mods you used, the map, your custom difficulty, ...

Uh, I love statistics.
Really want to see the amount of non-domination victories past emperor difficulty. I dont think its possible at the moment to get a CV or SV in immortal or Deity without war.

Should I only post results from the most recent version?
I would rather have one sheet per version. I think you can duplicate the sheet, but if you're not allowed to do so, just say to me which version you want me to add.

Victory: Tick the corresponding cell. Far -> No problems. Close -> Contested
Defeat: Tick the corresponding cell. Far -> No chance of winning. Close -> Contested

This is confusing. How about this?

Outcome: Victory - Defeat - Abandoned
On era: Era
The winner achieved: [Victory type]
Difficulty chosen: 1-8
Expectation was: Easy - Challenging - Difficult
Victory felt : Impossible -> Contested -> Guaranteed

Map size:
Game speed:
Other non UI settings/mod:

I added my recent failures as the Arabs. I'm seeing myself fall badly behind in culture surprisingly, and I'm not playing the tradition start well for some reason. Will try again tonight!

Two remarks:
You might open this to other difficulties than deity. I don't think too many people play deity, widening the audience would provide much more data.

The civ of the winner (AI or human) might be an interesting issue as well.

I've edited the post. The survey was already oriented to non-deity players (and the 5 games already reported are emperor and immortal), but the post was ambiguous.

very nice idea! gonna provide data as much as i can.

Agreed, as of right now there's only culture victories and i'd love to see which civ.

I'd say my biggest problems with the AI is that they ALWAYS seem to get ahead on culture on deity. Am I alone in feeling this? Is it just from warmongering/my playstyle/mistakes I'm making?

hi

(It's basically impossible to get ahead on culture -even when dominating-, and most games you're at best slightly behind the leader(s) despite focusing on culture/policies bigly.)

(Though I've been thinking that because policies help snowball so much, lowering policy acquisition for AIs would be a significant nerf in difficulty; it's a touchy subject.)

Yeah, but if making their culture human level decreases difficulty too much, we can ramp up other bonuses. Them constantly being ahead on culture regardless of how hard you focus culture is just unfun.

I know on Emperor I've been able to get culturally ahead with some Tall builds, especially with religions focused on culture.

The solution why the AI is better in culture:
Huge production bonus -> Build everything thats possible -> able to switch production to culture/science -> overtakes the human in culture/science

This absolutely makes sense....but have we proved it? Has someone seen in logs or in game the AI switching to culture production at points in the game?

Essentially everyone has just decided this is the case in all games lately, with or without proof.
