OK, I play tested a map that I made that started 1400ad and was to last 300 turns so the time limit would expire in the year 1800. Around 1630 I decided to make some changes but now everytime I start the scenario it starts in the year 1636 instead of restarting in 1400! What's up with that? I play tested it by starting Civ4 and picking single player, play a scenario like anyone else who would play this map not by opening the worldbuildersav file directly in explorer like when I edit it using wordpad. Help! I'd hate to have to retype all that stuff on a new map.

If you open up the map with notepad, from the normal windows frame, there is a ;

StartYear=

value, that you can set to whatever you want.

As for why this happened; When you save the worldbuilder, it creates a completely new scenario based on the map at that point, you would need to completely restart, as in with the original map, the editing process in order to have a 'bare canvas' to work with.

yea, I got the whole start year thing already. Maybe my question should have been, "How do I keep the World Builder from saving itself?" I'm not saving it every time. What file is it using and where is it located? The file that I'm using is located in the public maps section. Should I move it somewhere else to modify it or play it?
