Wait until Civ III to make new scenarios?

Hello all!

Back in April I started working on my very first scenario and things seemed to be going well until I hit a minor glitch with the graphics. My first few runs at playtesting suggested there might be some balance problems as well. Since I had failed to drum up much interest in the scenario (it doesn't depict anything historical or from popular movies), I decided to shelve it until inspiration struck again.

Now it's less that two months from the release of Civ III and I find myself in a bit of a dilemma. Should I continue this scenario (or the other ideas I've kicked around) and release it in Civ II MGE or wait until Civ III comes out and see if its editors and new rules make it easier to create my vision? Is anyone else out there contemplating putting a hold on scenario creation until civ III comes out?

Thanks!

I considered it, but then thought again. I have two unfinished projects, that are no way going to be shelved. I put too much work in them to do that. And anyway it will probably be a long time until Civ3 hits the shelves over here. And even after that, I bet people will play Civ2.

I think the new editors will make life simpler for scenario makers, but I don't think it will be easier to make a scenario. There'll still be the same problems with playbalance, graphics that don't fit in, all sorts of issues. Plenty of problems. But I'm excited to see if we get more possibilities. My bet is yes, we do! Especially with the tribespecific units etc, which will make life a lot easier. I sincerely hope it is as simple as combining different flags. I trust Dan Magaha, when he says that "flexibility is the order of the day"... :crazyeyes
