Waiting patiently for Hotseat

I've been gleefully playing Civ ever since the beginning (Civilization), and I didn't even think to check if this version would have hotseat. It always does. These days, my family and I play a healthy (possibly unhealthy?) amount of hotseat Civ 6, enjoying time together on the couch.

My wife and I play to relax and our children sometimes play with us and are learning a LOT of history (thank you). So it was with considerable sadness yesterday that we booted up the game for the first time and learned we couldn't play the way we love. This Dev post:

says that hotseat will be added, and I trust the makers of Civ, so we won't return it, but will instead wait patiently. But I do hope it is soon - all four of us are very excited.

I second this thought and hope hotseat arrives quickly. Also hoping they open up the larger map sizes to the Switch sooner rather than later as well.

From the posts from Firaxis I have hopes that Host seat and by extension PYDT launches with one of the March patches/DLC.

I guess we've drifted through much of 2025 and still don't have Hotseat Multiplayer. Does anyone have any news about when it might happen?

I second this thought and hope hotseat arrives quickly. Also hoping they open up the larger map sizes to the Switch sooner rather than later as well.

I could see them bringing larger maps to Switch 2, but I'm not sure the original Switch can handle it. Don't get me wrong, I love my Switch and would love to get the new one eventually, but the original might not have the chops.

It has been delayed, they will still get to it, but they have said they are focusing on other things now (since it turned out to be more complicated than they thought). You may need to plan for hotseat next Christmas
