war aid trade question

Since its possible to trade or give workers to another civ if they are in your capital, why is it not possible to trade or give other units to a civ? When one civ is getting too strong and eating up other civs I'd like to help them out by giving some of my spare tanks or units but I can't.

It would be nice to be able to give units.

I normally give GP. Sometimes a luxury will make their citizens happy enough to boost productitivity. Resources if they really need them. Rarely a tech though, unless it's a really old one.

YEA ... now wouldnt that be great ... another feature in Alpha Centuri that was left out of civ3 the only problem with civ3's system would be if your capital isnt next to the ocean then u wont be able to give naval units.... AC system would be better ... u could just hand over units as u pleased

I just finished a game of AC and I would really like to see a planetary council-style UN in civ to improve the late game with some diplomacy.
