[RD] War in Ukraine: Other topics

you can always declare no rescue service for nonhumans or what ?

^Not enough western parts probably.

Russian ships continue sinking randomly around the world. Last one sank in front of the Spanish Mediterranean coast and was property of the Russian government, it supposedly carried key components for nuclear icebreakers. Spanish rescue services had to waste time and taxpayer money rescuing the inepts aboard. Some are missing.

Coincidence, Ukrainian SBU actions or plain incompetence?
Even during wars, the parties mostly rescued sailors of sunken ships. It seems that modern Europeans have become more ‘civilised’ than their ancestors

Apparently rescuing enemies is ok but rescuing immigrants is wrong.

ı am on a poor day of reading comprehension . Are you suggesting r16 is against saving immigrants at sea ? Perhaps that would sound cool in this particular forum ?

In Russia it is just the other way around obviously.

spain has not declared war on Russia so the claim of saving the enemy at sea is false

undeclared wars do not enter it at all . Rescue is still expected to be available

apparently working in some maritime field , you know that much better than the rest of the forum

alas , the necessities of American political law require less news about Russians made to fly on their voyage to the next world

making this some operation to make Russians answer in kind , to serve the war effort

not being a Russian , ı haven't been answered . Everybody knows the European Right opposes Immigration in all forms . Which includes stuff that helps boats in distress . For real or sabotaged at first sight of any Coast Guard ship to force a rescue operation instead of being escorted back . The war effort also requires any and all Right Wing person to be depicted as voluntarily or foolishly helping Putin . Including the grandsons of such people who invaded the Soviet Union in '41 . Are you stating that questioning your remark makes me an European Right Wing person ? Not to be trusted at all ... Ignored at will and forever ... for the days when there will be lots of Right arm salutes from places ? Or maybe you were emotionally carried away ? There is a reason lip service was invented

let me beat tomorrow's news .

it is going to be claimed that Ukranians were making a drone attack on Grozny , Russians criminally hit the Azeri airplane with 67 on board , Russians criminally diverted it to Kazakistan , plane crashed , many deaths . Azeris are avoiding comments , but have noted Ukranians want Azeri oil exported from Russian pipelines and whatnot stopped .

also not in the news to be linked tomorrow the so called flag carrier's Seattle flight returned to Istanbul from near Iceland , radar problems cited .

also not in the news to be linked tomorrow the USN supposedly shot down an F-18 while landing on USS Truman on return from a bombing attack on Yemen in error . The BS part being the USN cruiser also engaged a second F-18 with the missile passing within 30 meters but like not exploding or whatever .

it will be discovered that this post is not about how everyone can make mistakes .

Azerbaijan Airlines crash sparks speculation plane ‘accidentally shot down by Russia’

An Azerbaijan Airlines plane crash on Christmas Day has prompted speculation the plane was shot down by Russia after it took a detour of hundreds of miles in the wrong direction and crash-landed with holes in the fuselage.

Russian military bloggers have suggested the plane, which crashed near the Kazakhstan city of Aktau, could have been mistaken for a Ukrainian drone. The incident, which killed at least 38 people and injured a further 29, took place after a significant detour, which could have been caused by GPS jamming.

The Embraer 190 aircraft made an emergency landing 3km from the Aktau, an oil and gas hub on the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea, on Wednesday. It was flying from Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan to Grozny, the capital of Chechnya in the north Caucasus.

Well, something put a bunch of holes through the tail section of the plane, and it sure as hell wasn't birds....

But regardless of the cause, it's looking like the pilots did an incredible job to save any lives - based on the phugoid motion in the footage, they had lost flight controls completely and were relying solely on the engines to control the plane. Very reminiscent of United 232 and ultimately with a similar result.

a question I've been wondering since some time: why is Russia still allowing civilian flights over its western territory?

Because they know flying is pretty safe there. Neither Ukraine nor any other European country will shoot the aircraft down in the area. Only Russia can.

I mean, there are drones flying there, that they need to shoot down, and civilian traffic above, seems unsafe wherever you are in the world.

if that happens , this or someother thread will be all about how Russia can't protect its airspace and it is already defeated . Nice denial by the way .

It's likely now a matter of identifying the shrapnel that penetrated the tail, rudder and fuselage; did it originate from the tail engine, or from an external source (anti-air missile)?
A missile would also leave traces of its explosive on the aircraft and shrapnel itself. As the tail is the only part of the aircraft left largely intact, it should be fairly straightforward for the crashsite experts to determine what exactly happened.

15000 hours claimed for the captain . Said to have put "Russian air defence" out of range by flying the odd way out . Aktau claimed to have a super nice runway , too .

that would be stupid, no one claims Ukraine can protect it's airspace with western weapons, and they are not allowing civilian flights since the beginning of the war anyway.

Russia is obviously not willing to shut down air traffic over their country every time there is a drone threat because it hurts their economy and image. Especially when it's exactly their goal to hurt Ukraine and therefore to make sure Ukraine keeps its airspace closed as long as possible, not them.

It'd be hard to argue that Finland and the US would stop civilian flights at the same status of threat. Likewise here.

I hope France would.

I also wonder if the failure of Russia to protect refineries and other kind of targets is due in some part on the restrictions imposed on the Air Defense by having to avoid shooting down a civilian aircraft by mistake.

(edit: autocorrect mistake)
