I think that it would be awesome(ly unbalancing) to upgrade a beserks to grenadiers and go Coastal on uh, coastal cities.

Or do you think Berserks will just get special amphibious equivalency property (like Chariots, Immortals and Camel Archers have a non-inheritable Flanking type equivalency).

Nice but you need a lot of exp for that. (Combat 2 + amphib + city raider x 3)

I think I saw Berserks would replace longbow so supposely no city raider for them otherwise , esp. with a free agressive combat 1.

your making the assumption that berserkers will upgrade to grenadiers. For all we know they could be a modern age rocket launcher!

Well yes, if they replace longbows then they should upgrade to grenadiers. But all of this is speculation anyway, but I'd take a bet that they'll upgrade to grenadiers before I take one that they upgrade to rocket launchers.

Well I'd imagine Berserkers would probably be replacement for axemen (and an amphibious equivalancy would probably be reasonable... especially given axemen's overpoweredness and the limited utility of Amphibious)

The fact is no unit that upgrades gets a free promotion that the unit it upgrades to doesn't (Tanks w Blitz->MA with Blitz, Explorers with W1G1 don't upgrade, MI with March Doesn't upgrade, the one exception is Marines->MI and their upgrade was added in a patch)

I would take a city raider capable Berserk with amphib equivalency over a free amphib promo on upgrade.

Yeah the exception seems to be the free amphib promotion. Maybe they'll limit the upgrade path instead (berserks -> marines).

Having former berserks gunpowder units with amphib might not be too unbalancing if Warlord units can create academies that give free promotions (so that other civs can have non-standard free promotions).

They would be axemen, 6 strenght (+1), amphibious, city raider I, doesn't recieve defensive bonuses. Costs 10 more shields

shouldn't they be macemen rather than axeman?
It would fit in better chronologicaly, its not like the romans ever had to worry about Vikings!
