Hello there,
I came back to Civ6 after... two years I guess? And I'm currently creating a new map. Since I'm still pretty new to all the expansion stuff, I have a few questions regarding the interaction between custom maps and some of the new features.

First of all, I'm wondering about how the game determines whether floodplains on a river are actually floodable. When testing the current state of my map yesterday, I've not really been able to make out a consistent pattern here. Usually, when I create a reasonably long river with a lot of floodplain tiles next to it, most of them are considered floodable, but I've also had instances when some of them weren't, although they belonged to the same river.
I've read in another thread that a river apparently needs to be at least 2 hexes long and have 4 floodplain tiles to be considered floodable. However, I've even seen that one of my rivers with a single floodplain tile is considered floodable, whereas several others (sometimes with 2 or 3 adjacent floodplain tiles even) aren't.
If it helps, I can provide some screenshots of map areas I'm talking about here. But if anyone knows some general rules to guarantee that a river becomes floodable, I'd appreciate it.
Speaking of rivers, I've also noticed that one of my rivers for some reason is split in two. Even if I delete it and draw it from scratch, it's still considered as two rivers. Any idea why something like this can happen (again, screenshot can be provided, I'm just in a hurry at the moment)?

My second question is about the new geographic feature names. IIRC, there is some sort of lua script used for example in YnAMP earth maps that allow you to set specific city names for specific hexes (or the area around them), which requires you to turn your map into a mod first (which I haven't had to do yet).
I just wanted to know if there's something similar for the new geographic feature names? So you could specifiy certain names for specific rivers, mountains, lakes, etc. depending on the civilization that finds them. E.g. in an Earth map, you'd want to have the Rhine be called Rhine every time and not some randomly chosen name.

That's it for now, I hope you can help me!

GS features are not really open to modding (yet?)

I've no idea how the game handles your first point with WB maps, what I known is that I can't use anything else than random placement for YnAMP scripts for rivers flooding positions.

And your second point is currently not possible AFAIK, unless you're ready to code your own system from scratch and overwrite a few of the UI files.

Thanks a lot! Guess we'll have to wait for them to become moddable then.

The split river thing is a bit odd, it only happens in one place in the map. But I don't really complain, it allows for another dam to be built in that area. :D

I'm making some sort of progress regarding the flooded tiles. It appears that I can get it to work more or less consistently if I place at least 4 floodplain tiles around the river where three of them have the river flowing between them (triangular shape if you will). When I place 4 floodplains in a row on only one side of the river, for example, it isn't floodable. Also, floodplains next to source of a river aren't floodable either, that explained why some rivers with several floodplains weren't considered floodable (moving the river source further away fixed it). Basically, the only thing I still haven't figured out why two of my rivers with a single floodplain tile are considered floodable. They are pretty close to each other and the two floodplain tiles in question border each other, so maybe that might have something to do with it.

To be honest, I was surprised to see that river flooding worked on my map, seeing how several posts since the release of GS until today have talked about how it didn't for a lot of people.

Fixed flood plains for the WB was part of the september patch IIRC, so yes, it's relatively new, compared to all posts since February.
