Wearing the same tie two days in a row

Everyone noticed that you wore the same tie two days in a row and everyone was judging you.

That's probably true. Your field is an interesting one for that.

You can probably work with as few as 3 if you cycle the shirts you match them with, otherwise it's just a part of the "buy an expensive looking briefcase, buy an expensive looking watch, wear a nice suit, and drive a nice car. We can't have our employees/members look like plebs" thing going on.

In my opinion, ties shouldn't be worn. They are very silly and look like a turkey's wattle, dangling from the neck like that. They serve no functional purpose and can snag in machinery like paper shredders and circular saws.

I hate ties. They serve no functional purpose, as you said. And they are not making people handsome, either.

I only wear them to weddings and funerals, and to keep my Mum happy at certain social events

so a black one and a shinny blue one cover all occasions

What do you think about short sleeves with a tie? My boss does this and it looks really 50s to me. Most of us don't wear ties.

I think it looks ridiculous, but not as bad as a polo shirt and a clip-on bowtie.

Again, with the covering of sinful shirt buttons!

(in my best Zoidberg impression)

Ties make me feel sexy and confident, so I'm kind of okay with them.

(Also, all the ties I currently have I took from my father, and I feel a bit of pride and a sentimental connection with my father because of that.)

Why can't we just wear chokhas like real gentlemen?

A tie is a dangerous thing. It goes about your neck and has a convenient handle.

It doesn't help that the tie is the most visible or memorable element to the suit. I have worn the same suit to multiple interviews with the same company (because I only have one), but I try to switch the tie so it looks different.

Exactly.

I think these days it is unfashionable to wear a tie without a sport coat. Ties should be in addition to the sport coat, but it is a faux pas to wear a tie w/o a sport coat. That's at least the current fashion.

One thing is for certain. You will always be remembered as the guy who wore the same tie the first two days of his new job.

You should keep that one separate from the rest, and only wear it on special occasions to give everybody a chuckle.

A major defensive liability during an office fight. If there are no others in that office, the weak fighter is going to be suffocated ,with his tied grabbed. lol, my vile imagination.

I've found that some women like to use them to dominate men.

I think that is something that has completely flipped, maybe even as recently as the 90s. Used to be you showed you were casually getting down to business by taking off your jacket and rolling up your sleeves. Now, you show you are casually getting down to business by not wearing a tie, leaving the top button or two undone.

That's why I don't wear it. It is too hot to wear them now. A few months ago I wore a suit to work sometimes.

Eh, real office work is done in shorts and t-shirts and hoodies and the like. That's when you've dispensed with appearances entirely, and your only goal is to be productive.

Depends. Fields that pride themselves on being "professionals," hehehe, are expected to be able to kick ass in formal wear.

Miners?

back when I had a job where I was required to wear one of those silly things, I wore the same one for several days, usually...why shouldn't I?

Just try to wear one tie at least for one week. After you have done this there will be no more problem.
