Weird issue at game start

Hey guys, I've been lurking for years now and I have run into my 1st issue that I can't figure out. I tried doing a search for the issue but I can't find an answer anywhere after multiple tries.

I had the game working on my old macbook pro with no issues. I had Vanilla, Warlords and BTS and everything was working fine. Long story short I toasted my old laptop and bought a new one and went to re-install the games. Well Vanilla and BTS worked but my warlords disc is all scratched up. No big issue there, I now have Vanilla and BTS with the 1.74 patch on Vanilla and the 3.19 on BTS.

Everything seems fine but when I start the game everything launches fine and loads up and I get the the 1st screen where I have my settler and scout/warrior. Now here is where it gets weird, my gold production in like -19899980 or something really huge and stupid like that. I go into my financial advisor to see why it's like this and it's my inflation cost. This is the 1st time I've had this issue and I have no idea why it's like this now when it wasn't like this before. It renders the game unplayable due to massive financial destruction on the 1st turn!

If it matters I'm a Diety level player and I usually play on large maps and epic speed.

I need help, has any body had this issue before???

It's a python issue. I've seen people complaining about it before. Did you change any files?

Ummm, I'm not sure what you mean by a "python issue" I don't think I changed any files, I simply installed Vanilla and then BTS and did the patch updates. So unless it changed something when I did the patch updates I don't know what has happened. What I'm doing right now is un-installing it all and then re-installing it one step and one patch at a time to try and isolate the problem.

If anybody knows on how to solve the "python issue" easily it would be greatly appreciated. I'm only half way through the re-install and will probably end up with this issue again so I need to get it fixed.

looks like I might have found the issue. I re-installed everything except the 3.19 patch and everything seems fine... for now. I will do the 3.19 patch and see if that changes it again. Hopefully not as I need that patch to be compatible to what everyone else is running.

Problem solved. What I did to create the error was I installed all the DVD's first and then did all the patches. And what you need to do is install Vanilla, do the patch... then install BTS and then the BTS patch. I guess it matters what order you do things.

Who knew. LOL
