Weird Resolution/Color problem

Okay, I was trying to play Rome:Total War acouple of hours ago and it just froze up. The screen kept flickering (not turning off or on, more like it was trying to refresh itself), and I couldn't click on anything. I couldn't even shut down the computer correctly.

After a hard boot, windows restarts with the resolution and colors messed up. I tried everything I could think of, but nothing worked. So can you guys help me any?

BTW, I'll try to attach a picture (watch it show up normal for you guys though).

BTW, that is as big as the screen gets.

try reinstalling your adapter drivers.

Looks like the old 16 color stuff. That seems as if either you are in safe mode (but I think you'd notice that) or your video card is in distress. Take Turner's suggestion, but when that doesn't work, you may be in the market for a new video card.

Yeah, that looks like "Safe Mode": 16 color, 640x480 resolution.

If you are NOT in "Safe Mode", then you need to try installing your graphics card drivers, or get a new card.

I didn't even know there was such thing as safe mode in XP. Shows how much I know!
