Wishing I Was Here
Were you ever a Boy or Girl Scout? Xen's thread gave me the idea in which I recounted my stay:

I was actually a Girl Scout for about two weeks. I didn't get along with the other little girls and I stated to them, "I don't do camping." I also got into a fight with my Scout Master because I didn't want to sell these disgusting "Mexican Powder" cookies. They were shortbread and covered in powdered sugar and they tasted like rocks. I didn't even do any badges because I had already done almost all of the activites in my free time before hand and it would just be redundant to do it again. Needless to say, I'm not a great Girl Scout. But I don't pick on beavers!

Did you enjoy your time there or were you forced to go? Did you learn things there that were useful?

I'm still extremely disappointed about the whole girlscout thing. I always pictured it as scantily clad coeds having pillow fights in tents.

Yes I was! Swedish scouts! Can't remember how old I was though, I only joined so that I would get a "Knife License" which declared that I could, safely and properly, use knives. After I got the "license" I quit.

Enjoy: No
Forced: No
Learn: Not really, but I got my license. :D

I didn't want to be when I had the chance. All my friends went there at about the same time, but in the end, it was proved that i was the one who was right all the time :D, cause it didn't took long for almost all of them to leave with feelings that went from disapointed to disgusted.

I wasn't...

But I still don't know if it was good or bad, that I never was a scout...

Only at gunpoint, my friend.;)

I was in the Boy Scouts. I joined of my own free will to get away from my family. I wound up spending eight years in the organization, so yeah, I guess I enjoyed it.

I would have liked to be. I hade many scout friends and the outdoorstuff interested me a lot more than music and arts. I haven't even been on a real hike yet, but I'm waiting to go as soon as it starts to get warmer again.

I was, and I quite enjoyed it. But I got kicked out for being mischievous :mischief:

I'm an Eagle Scout and proud of it. The common sense knowledge, in addition to environmental issues, civic duty, government service, etc., were a great experiences for this city kid. There are many great things taught in Scouts from leadership skills, teamwork, first aid/lifesaving, and just examples of how to be a good, honest person in a rather decadent world.

We were mischievous, as well...only we never got caught! :p

I was young(er) at the time and didn't realise how blatantly obvious it was, that it was me (and a group of friends) who commited a/one of the crimes - that added to the case against me/us getting kicked out.

It was pretty late (for 10 year olds) - about 12:00, and everyone but us were asleep. We ran around pulling the pegs out of everyone elses tents - which led to them collapsing. The scout leaders didn't find it very amusing :(
Ours was the only tent which was left standing, thus we were caught.
Another time we ran about spraying fart gas into others' tents, they didn't appreciate that either. I think I was kicked out soon after I was 11 years old...

Yes, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and I hated it.

I used to be in the Cub scouts as a little kid, but then I didn't feel like going on the boy scouts so I stoped.

The scouts were the sissies. The cool kids were in the "National Guard Youth of Norway".. Including me, of course :D

Never a boy scout

as Cilpot stated, "The scouts were the sissies"

but i wasnt in any "national guard"...

But there were some gang rivalizing water wars around here a summer back.. No hate, as everybody were friends again when school started

(oh, and there were absolutely no scouts on our school)

Got another Eagle Scout here. Great time in my life, mostly for the hiking and camping part. Even went to Philmont once. Anybody who says scouts are sissies never saw what we did there.
