What ancient DLC civilizations would you like to see in an expansion? Votes are unlimited. If the civilization you want isn't listed, then you can suggest it below, since I can't add more than thirty.
If we think of "contemporaries", it really would make sense to have a 0-Age (Bronze Age) before. Myceneans, Hittites and Phoenicians fit much better with the Egypt we have while Ptolemaic Egypt, Carthage and Armenia fit better in the antiquity age.
Maybe this zero- and the fourth Age can be half as long. Or you can say the five-act structure known from the theatre fits as well and you don't have to play the whole game in one sitting
Anyways, this list could use a bit wider geographic representation, otherwise we run into Mediterranean civs being the predecessor for everyone
Ideally everything on the menu and more! this is of course not a realistic expectation but maybe food for thought. I wonder if the developers have been shooting themselves on the foot by making civilizations/leaders more complicated and difficult to create over each CIV iteration? on the other hand i am certainly not advocating for generic/forgetable leaders like HK did.
I voted for Hittites, Assyrian, Phoenicans, Sumerians, Babylonians, Armenians and Gauls. I want all of them and will happily download mods that add them to the roster in the meantime.
Also cast a vote for Thrace because of my fondness of them, and Goths for a germanic European starter culture, but I would not be unhappy if a different culture from the same geographical reason were chosen instead.
I did not vote for any cultures outside of Europe and the Middle-East because my knowledge on them just isn't strong enough to judge their value. I will happily welcome any of them on the roster, as long as the mechanics are fun and interesting and I'll gladly learn more about them via playing them in Civ7
I wouldn't refuse any of these civilizations but I only voted for the ones that interested me the most - Minoans, Hittites, Sumer, Babylon, Assyria, Gauls/Celts, Carthage, Numidia, Nubia, Xiongnu, Olmec, Zapotec, Nazca.
Although for the Andes I would prefer Tiwanaku or even the Moche civilization over Nazca personally.
Because you don't want to unleash a hoard of keyboard warriors onto yourself, calling for a boycott? Russia's inclusion is considered controversial. Do you not think the inclusion of Judea in Antiquity (which where they should be) wouldn't spark an even fiercer debate.
Now is not the time for it. an Israelite independent power is perfectly reasonable, and adding an Israelite king as a leader is good either. But anything more is like Tibet - it is better left on the backburner for the moment being.

Antisemites shouldn’t get a hecklers veto, either in the poll or in the full game.
By the same logic for excluding Israel or Judah, Firaxis ought to have omitted Harriet Tubman from the game, as she certainly elicited the ire of many, many “keyboard warriors”. Firaxis was right to give no heed to such haters, and they should be consistent in that with respect to Israel and Tibet.
After all, it’s easy for them to stick to their artistic integrity when it’s only keyboard warriors to worry about. They’d display true bravery if they stuck to artistic choices in the face of censorship or worse.
Caral (the oldest Andean civ)
Harappa
Indo-Aryans
Nabateans
Anuradhapura (ancient Sri Lanka)
Saba (or Himyar, or ancient Yemen in General)
Elam (though I admit, I've never managed to found stuff differentiating it from Mesopotamia)
Urartu (same problem as above; I'd just like to leave Armenia for the second age)
"ancient Syria" (there are many ways to implement it - Yamhad, Ebla, Arameans, Palmyra)
stranger ideas:
Slavs (given Missisipi or Khmer treatment of being "logical precedessor" rather than chronological antiquity)
Bantu (catch-all civ of the resilient settlers bringing agriculture and metallurgy to the tropical Africa)
Nok civilization (in Nigeria; arguably may be not attested enough)
I thought those names would fit better for an ancient Japanese civilization, but that doesn't mean characteristics of the Yamatai or Yayoi period can't be included in the design of a Yamato or Heian Japan.
Ultimately, I’d just love to see regional paths more fleshed out.
So, I’d want to see the following civs for sure:
- Tonga to lead into Pacific civs
- Nazca or another early South American civ to lead into Inca and other South American civs
- Goths or another Germanic people to lead into central, northern, and Eastern European civs
- A Celtic civ such as Gauls or Picts to lead into Western European civs (given the surplus of Western leaders)
- Ghana/Wagadu, Nok, or another West African civ
- Zimbabwe or another southern/Central African civ
- Carthage or Phoenicia, to lead into both European and Middle Eastern/North African civs
- Babylon, Sumer, or Assyria, of course, for a Mesopotamian representation
- An early steppe Civ like the Huns or Scythians to lead into Mongolia
- Potentially even a western Native American civ such as the Hohokam, Mogollon, or Ancestral Pueblo
The Britons would be more inclusive for all of Britain rather than one tribe like the Iceni or Brigantes. In Civ 6 we had the Gauls in their entirety rather than individual Gaulish tribes like the Arverni or Menapii instead. Boudicca as a leader was arguably more memorable than her tribe.
First and foremost:
Cheruscans/Goths/Any other germanic tribe;
It's kind of annoying that the Romans are everywhere while arguably their fiercest enemies are usually pushed to the side.
