IT IS WRITTEN:

Some people are never destined to experience happiness or fulfillment in life. For them is created the Geelong Football Club.
To follow them you seriously have to enjoy anguish, and causing yourself pain and untold misery. We did have God on our side for many years, though, or rather IN our side.:D

Note to self: Bribe moderators to rig poll in GFC favour;)

We are talking about real football teams here, not the corrupt, artificial mobs up north who have been spoonfed with every advantage possible, including Victorian clubs to devour by a sychophantic, insane, syphillitic Commission who wouldn't know grassroots football if it came up and flick passed their first born through for a rushed behind!!!!!!!!

There, I've been meaning to get that off my chest for a while

;) :p

Notice every reply has come from an Australian?

Hmmm sounds like how the Sydney rugby league clubs feel about the Broncos too, it's tough being on top... :goodjob: :p

No, I have always hated the pitiful excuses for real football clubs that make their lair in the dank north. For your information, it is only in the past year that the Brisbane Liars have ever done anything...
Whoever said you could not buy a premiership; or rather, have the corpulent rat scum at the AFL gift it to you.
The clubs should be disbanded, and the players and coaching staff burnt at the stake for treason, heresy and witchcraft. Those with the appropriate title will officiate.

By the way, what is "rugby league" and a "Bronco"?

Ok, thanks. I at first thought it's American Football League  , but found it puzzling that so few people have replied.

Btw, does 'Football' in this context means Australian rules football, which is not really football at all? :D (Not that I don't like it - I played it a few times at school, and almost broke my neck once!)

Is one of these team a Canberra team? I wish you had included the city names, because I don't recognize the nicknames...

Aren't Dockers pants? :)

:sheep:

EDIT: Ah, I found the league website, and I found the team I was looking for: the St. Kilda Saints! Go Saints!

BTW, love this headline from the last game:
"Saints mauled by Lions"

Is that supposed to be a Roman Colosseum reference? :)

:sheep:

There is no Canberra team, as we in the civilized parts of the country tend to ignore its existence;)
The teams, with locations, are as follows

Adelaide Crows (South Australia)
Port Adelaide Power (SA)
Brisbane Lions (Queensland)
Carlton Blues (Victoria)
Collingwood Ferals...oops, I mean Magpies (Victoria)
Essendon Bombers (Vic)
Fremantle Dockers (Western Australia)
Geelong Cats (Vic)
Hawthorn Hawks (Vic)
Melbourne Demons (Vic)
North Melbourne Kangaroos (Vic) (Now known as Northern Kangaroos, but no one pays attention to that.)
Richmond Tigers (Vic)
St. Kilda Saints (Vic; Shane Warne's old club)
Sydney Swans (Sydney)
West Coast Eagles (WA)
Western Bulldogs (Vic; properly known as Footscray before silly marketing move several years back)

And a pair of pants could play better than the miserable Dockers...

And it is Aussie rules, the best and only football code in the multiverse.

Right, right...which is why the Wizard's Cup is the highest-rated Television program world-wide, right? ;)

Just kidding, as long as it's men tackling men, I'm game...wait, that didn't sound right...

Some things are too good to be shared with the rest of the world:p

Simon,

How come you're not a Crows fan if you're from Adelaide? Or is Geelong nearby as well (please forgive my lack of specific knowledge in Australian geoography)?

I saw the light, and left the stupid crowds of imbeciles to moan by themselves in the animal pit. I also have impeccable taste, so there was only ever one option.
And, as I previously alluded to, how can you not support a team that God plays (played) for?

God is a fallen idol! Seriously, it is sad to see the depths to which Gary Ablett has fallen.

He is the greatest footballer I have seen, but IMHO is part of the reason Geelong have had such a lousy football culture within the club - they are still coming to terms with his legacy.

GFC allowed Ablett special privileges it would never have entertained for anyone else - you can't effectively run any sporting organisation with any sense of discipline when everyone sees someone else getting away with blue murder!

Yeah, I know it's only halfway through the first round of the season but I'm just happy :) the real footy season has started!

The days are getting shorter and cooler, leaves are turning shades of red, yellow and orange - and I can go to the MCG to watch the Mighty Bombers play!

Simon, your boys put up a good fight for the first half, but after that it got a bit ugly, although, in fairness losing Ronnie Burns and playing 5 youngsters meant Geelong were a bit under manned. Young Ablett played a good game and looks like he's got a bit of his old man's talent, although he is a very different player from his father.

The Bombers were inaccurate but Hird and Lloyd were magnificent - football is back and I'm happy! :D
