What am I doing wrong?

Hey, I am having some troubles installing FFH 2, or maybe just problems getting it to run.

I just finished visiting http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=171398 Downloaded the 370ish meg file and installed it, followed by the patch a. The mod loads fine and all, but I cannot load a game. When it crashes it says it has something to do with kernal32.dll .

After going through other posts in troubleshooting, and looking at the bug list... the closest related problems would be :

3. If you are running BtS 3.17 and the game still crashes when starting your computer could be having problems playing the opening movie. Disabling movies resolves the problem. If this is your problem you will often be able to play scenarios but not the main game (because movies dont play before the scenarios).
4. If FfH crashes when starting a game and when you look in the Civilopedia from the main menu and you can't see units, then you have only applied the patch and you need to download and install the main mod (then reapply the patch).

I checked Civilopedia, Finding that the Icons for the units show... But when trying to get a look at the actual unit, there are no graphics. (This goes for buildings as well)

Do I need to have vanilla's mod for the original civ 4? Installing patch a after didn't help. From all that I have read, the 367mb (or 385,000,000 byte) file labeled "Fallfromheaven2.exe" should be the main mod.

If the case is that 0.41 is only a patch (a near 400mb patch), Where can I get the main mod?

Edit : Well, it might help to post some system specs...

OS : Win XP 64 bit
Graphics : Nvidia gtx 280
Ram : 4gb
DirectX : Lastest as of June 13th 2k9
BTS version : 3.17

The mod installer is called "FallFromHeaven2.exe" and should be 376,681 KB in size (as reported by Windows). Patch A is called "FfH2041a.exe" and is 5,843 KB. If Windows reports either of them as a different size then I'd suggest you delete the file and redownload it.

This suggests to me that perhaps a problem is occurring when you install the mod, and so it is either not installing or installing in the wrong location. Are there any error messages or other Windows popups during the installation process? What is the exact path to which you are choosing to install the mod? When you installed the patch, was that same location automatically selected? Did you accept the location suggested, or install the patch to another location (and if so, what location)?

This means you dont actually have BtS patch 3.17 installed (3.19 now). To check load up FfH2, go into the "Advanced" -> "About this Version" menu and check what Civ version you are using. It needs to say 3.17 (with FfH2 0.41a) or 3.19 (with FfH2 0.41b).

I have 3.17 and recently installed patch 0.41b but it crashed right at the start. Is 41b only for 3.19 or did i do something wrong? is there a changelog or a readme anywhere on this forum to this patch?

After Patching to 3.19 it works. Thanks for the quick reply.

Maybe the changelog should be in some Post more obvious since even the forum search for "changelog" didn't hit that post!
